Custom Shop doesn't mention Preamp Choice or type of Pickup:
I'm on the horns of a dilemma here....
I could see a fretless Special 5H in Hot Honey in my future (with gold hardware, even?) Definitely custom stuff there (love the idea of direct-to-consumer).
However, I've just been turned on to Rob Allen fretless basses. String count, scale line options (with no insulting comments), and the tone is to absolutely die for. And apparently, from what I gather, they are quick with orders.
So.......

No surprise I love the Hot Honey, but the Genius Gold, Ocean Sparkle (matching headstock! 
), Pacific Blue Burst, and especially the Purple Burst all grab me just as much.
Not crazy about all of them, but there are a bunch that I like a lot this year.

LOL. You must own more Musicman basses than Sterling Ball himself at this point. How have they not yet granted you your own signature model?I’m getting an ocean sparkle and I already ordered a custom 2 weeks ago!!
I can see it now, the "Lady T-iffany Special" in Tiffany Blue Sparkle, gold hardware, and matching headstock. But what sets it apart from a just a Special with a limited edition finish is the gold "T" inlay at the 12th fret and a matching Tiffany Blue Sparkle Mono bag!

Not crazy about all of them, but there are a bunch that I like a lot this year.
I love the ocean sparkle but that purple burst BFR with what looks like purple blocks just might steal the show for me. Decisions, decisions.
Not currently an option but they announced that it’s coming this spring

How does your Stingray let you know that it needs a new battery? I've had other active basses in the past and typically when the battery gets drained, they just stopped working. However, with my Stingray Special I noticed that it'll give you a bit of a warning (if you're smart enough to heed it) before it totally craps out. I find this kinda helpful now that I know to look into this before I do anything else and I feel like one day it may help me to avoid the bass totally crapping out halfway through a set.
Interestingly enough, my Stingray's warnings have changed over time. One thing to keep in mind - I'm a lot poorer now then when I was when I bought my Stingray Special (go figure right?), so I'm using the cheapest 9 volts you can get on Amazon... At any rate, here they are in order of appearance:

- When I first got my bass it stopped producing sound one day, I unplugged my pedal board, plugged it straight into the amp and things were right as rain. I troubleshot just about everything else, finally swapped the batteries, plugged it back into the pedal board and everything was groovy (literally).
- Next, it started to scream like a banshee and again, I troubleshot just about everything else and then when I swapped out the batteries everything was copasetic.
- This morning, I noticed that when I played the bottom two strings (5Her), it sounded like I blew a cab. Having gained some wisdom over the years, I swapped the batteries before I troubleshot and of course everything was fine.
Don't really care for most of these new finishes. But the design experience sounds interesting and expensive.

I'm excited to see which options specifically are offered in the custom shop offerings. I could see myself being very interested in a fretless 5HH with an ebony fretboard.
I made a contact through the EBMM forum . The same way the guy recently ordered an SLO neck.
My persistence paid off. I had to ask for the same thing 3 different times in 3 different ways before I finally got a YES. And my YES just showed up in my email after a month or 2.

I see. Thanks for the info. So what is your custom order going to be or is that a Suprise?
I’m hopeful it won’t be too expensive. To use Fender’s parlance, it’s not a full Custom Shop, but more like the Mod Shop; standard models with a fixed set of options to choose from. In fact it’s more limited than the Mod Shop, where you can choose body wood, bridge and tuners.
it will be cool if they do an online configurator like Fender’s.
I don't think different Stingrays have different ways of communicating the need for new batteries. I think your batteries are different levels of "dead".
