EBMM StingRay Special Club

Okay, here it 'tis......

Pic taken in my Little Shop Of Horrors, undergoing new flooring as I can get to it.

Before I took the pic, I plugged it into a little Trace Elliot Elf 8" combo with the extension 8" cabinet. Oh my gosh in Heaven, I have missed that tone.

Plugged it into my studio system with the headphones. Oh, yeah.

Can't wait to take it to our rehearsal tomorrow.

Right out of the box, it's perfect. action, setup, even the OEM EB Slinky strings sound great. I'm gonna leave them on and not put on my usual D'Addario Pro Steels just yet. But I'm about to put on the Hipshot Xtender that I thankfully have on hand from the Frost Pearl Green Special I let go earlier this year.

And yes, the chrome hardware looks GREAT!....😁

Frankly, with all the racket and noise going on elsewhere around TB, I don't feel at all compelled to make a NBD anywhere but here. These are just for us!....🤣

Unsure if I’m going to install them or go with TI Jazz Rounds instead, since they will wrap easier around the tuning peg. I’m nervous about breaking new $90 strings. Thoughts?

I’ve taken the Hot Honey and the SS to a couple practices now. I’m totally enamored by them. They have the nicest necks and fretwork I think I’ve ever felt. I definitely prefer the sound of the regular 34” scale with the preamp, but then again I haven’t yet changed the strings on the SS. Strings make a HUGE difference. I have a set of TI Jazz Rounds coming in. Even though they are 32” length, I don’t mind wrapping them around the tuning peg. Curious to see how much the sound changes (I already have those strings on the hot honey).

At first I thought the volume “boost” on the SS was stupid, but it actually makes perfect sense because the bass has a lot more output in series mode. When switching to single coil or parallel, the “boost” equals out the volume perfectly to match series mode. That’s attention to detail.

I’m typically a P bass guy, but consider me a P bass and Stringray guy now.

Love the look of the hot honey. I currently don’t have a fiver. But if I do, it will likely be a special.

(Hey, @LadyLoveStingRay5 , I ran through the Custom Build Experience and I didn't see the Hot Honey finish as an option. Is that the case now, or did I miss it?)

Same here. I took out a J a P and my Ray last night and played the same variety of tracks on each back to back,back and forth. Same strings settings etc and the Stingray just sounds better to my ears than all my other basses. I thought I was crazy at first but over 2 hours back and forth I couldn't get over how polished the special is and how it sits in the mix.

Definitely call them. I bet they’ll be able to accommodate your request. The reason I say that, is because when I was trying to decide on the color for my CDE Ray, I called and asked if they could do their Harvest Orange, and they said yes. Like the saying goes, “You have not because you ask not.” 😎

I'm also really loving how it sits in the mix. I like when my p bass has a good burp to it, and the Stingray has a fuller frequency range with plenty of burp. Very easy to hear in the mix, and a joy to hold!

A Sire, maybe Z7, M7, or F7? The M and F are 35”, IIRC.

These weights, the fact that I find the Sire preamp to sound conjested, and QC problems make these a no go for me. Too bad because the finish is BLUETIFUL!!!
