Anyone else surprised the CDE colors mostly are pretty tame/plain lol... i mean the green and yellow burst and a few others are pretty intense but most of them are pretty uninspiring, even the newer ones they are about to add aren't like OMG THATS AWESOME kinda of colors unlike some of their production finishes.


Someone commented i think asking if you can get the current production colors as well i think, when i emailed EBMM they said if its something they are actively having in a production line its not a problem you would just pick something at the same teir (transparent, vs pearl, vs sparkle) and they would note that it actually is getting a production color.

Yes, a month ago I ordered a CDE bass in a production color.

You are correct. It’s different from the crescendo white sparkle.

Same, the natural look really suits StingRays (and Jazz Basses). I played a natural StingRay Special 5H that I should've bought because it felt amazing, but I'm pretty happy with the Purple Sunset bass that my wife got me instead.

50th anniversary bass with a poplar body? Meh. The flake finishes they do are just kinda meh too. The flake is too small imo. I like the big chunky flake finishes modulus does. The Darkray… I think has too much going on under the hood. Probably too unreliable to honestly gig regularly.

If you know the tv show, “has that chair been dipped in gold?”

Ha! I guess Showtime is the new burst. I see black as well in the Darkrays. I would think that since these are offered finishes in one of their models, it should be available in the custom design experience.

Same thing happened to me last year. A local shop had a couple of used Stingray Special 5s, one of which was natural with a really nice grain to the body. It played so good, comfortable weight, and the B string was superb. I really thought about it but wasn't in the position to pull the trigger.

Ha! Yes, N' Stuff. They had a sea foam green Stingray Special 5 as well. Played equally as nice but wasn't setup as well as the natural one.

Around that time, their used department was getting all kinds of really nice gear. I was beside myself for a couple months trying to figure out what to do, but if you thought too long (like I usually do), it's too late.
