Obvious solution is to get another StingRay so you can have one with flats and one with rounds... :thumbsup:

Some notes:

- This bass is flawless. Not a single defect that I can find on any part of the bass, and I'm pretty anal about these things and looked everywhere. I've got Gibson guitars at the same price point that have flaws, so I have come to expect something to be present, but there is really nothing here. This is the best made production instrument I've ever held in my hands.

- I was initially weary about this color being dull but I should have known better. The finish is stunning. A deep forest green complimented by a dark rosewood board and a parchment guard. Whoever picked the colors for this model did a fantastic job. I have been put off by many of the wilder color schemes on Stingrays but not this one. It's an instant classic.

- I was going to get the Hot Honey but I am glad I went for this instead. It is far more understated and I love the rosewood board and white nut over the black one on the Hot Honey.

- The bass was not set up great. The neck looks completely flat and there is zero clearance under the strings when I put a capo on 1 and my finger on 15.

- The case is lighter than a hard case but I'd say also less protective overall. It is designed to fit both the 4 and the 5 so the 4 does move around in it a bit. I was not happy with that. That being said, there's about 4 inches of clearance from the top of the headstock to the inside top of the case, so the bass was completely fine even though the FedEx guy delivered it upside-down (LOL). If I wasn't just a guy playing at home I would want a hard case, but I'd say this is fine for most people. Shipping your Stingray in this case inside a regular EBMM cardboard box should be fine.

I will be doing a slight adjustment to the truss and putting on my LaBella LTFs as I have already gotten a massive blister from these rounds. Guitar player problems, I guess. Looking to pair this with (probably) an SGT-DI pre for quiet playing at home and my Orange OB1-500 head when it's time to get more rowdy.

I'm really close to pulling the trigger on this same bass. Are you still loving the color? I tend to like vintage aesthetics, and this is that, but at the same time isn't. I really love the way it looks but do NOT want anything flashy or sparkly. It reminds me of a bass wearing Polo by RL lol. Very very classy. How is it aging on you?

Yeah, it really is just an art piece, a collectors' item, and the molten gold finish looks much more unique IMO. I can't even imagine someone gigging with that bass. Also, you can design your own, pimped up version of Stingray via Custom Design Experience, for the same (or even less) amount of money.

Agreed, the molten finish is much more unique and is the one to have for me if I had the choice of either, I think they got them the wrong way round.

I ws watching with great anticipation to see what EBMM would do for the 50th Anniversary models . I think they are amazing to look at. I enjoy gold very much. I wont be purchasing one for several reasons.

1. I dont get along with the standard necks on 4 string Stingrays. They are too thick for me.

2. Ebony fingerboards. I prefer maple or rosewood on a Stingray for that signature StingRay 'Bounce" to the notes.

3. I was disappointed that this model didn't come with mutes.

4. While it is a ver nice looking bass......so are the 4 StingRay Specials already on my bass rack. My Design Experience Amethyst Sparkle StingRay5 Special with matching headstock is still the most beautiful Stingray in my eye that I have ever seen.

Well, I pulled the trigger. Brand new, $2250 out the door, no tax/shipping :)

This fallout green is something special for sure. You don't see many basses in a rich, dark metallic green. It reminds me of a custom ordered Mercedes/Bentley/Aston Martin color. The dark rosewood, white nut/pickguard and hint of roasted maple just on the headstock is all class. Such a beauty!

I wouldn't own gold hardware myself, but this bass would be a knockout with gold parts.

I am going to try the new Pino Smoothie Flats on this guy. They sounded amazing on Empire's Pino signature fretted bass demo.

I don't have it yet but here are the extra pics I asked for from the dealer:

Such a beautiful color! And your right about the dark rosewood board and roasted neck/headstock really ties it together. Gorgeous! Congrats!

Such a great finish! Not telling you how to live your life, but I bet it'd look good with an aged white pearl pickguard, too...

Finally got my fretless back after having the broken nut replaced… sigh… at least I wasn’t charged but man… anyway…

Had some time to kill today before work so I slapped on a brand spanking new set of Super Slinks. Kids in school, wife running errands, Vader compelling me to crank it…
