Just got a killer SR5 HH and messing out with the 5 way switch I accidentally left the switch in between positions and a different tone came out of it, really nice and mid focused, then I started doing the same in all in between positions and same thing.
Anyone has done the same?

Loving this bass, I don't know why I waited that long to get one

No pics no bass
Here is a bad picture of a killer bass

I haven't had the pleasure yet. But that thing looks ridiculously good!

Nice bass! The special 5s are killer. I wonder if the switch is engaging one of the two coils/pickups on the in between settings when not fully switched. Is there hum?

Ill have to try that later. Could be some secret settings in there!

Ok I just tested it out and indeed there are three distinct settings available between the standard switch settings.

Switch settings are 1-5 and coils 1-4 starting from the bridge. Between switch positions 1/2 and 2/3 you get coils 1 2 and 4 which I think is like an HS Stingray. Between switch positions 3/4 you get coils 1 2 and 3 which is like a Lakland. Between switch positions 4/5 you get coils 2 3 and 4 which is like a reverse Lakland.

Pretty wild! They all sound good. Slight hum but it doesn’t seem too bad.

Oh boy... I hope that's not my future

On the 5 strings, it was the G string's closeness to the edge of the neck that killed it for me. Just change the CNC program for the nut and cut it 1/32" closer to the center of the neck. But they won't do that, it would be admitting the the first go wasn't ideal.

I did and then I sold it and then I did it again and sold it. It's been the story of my life with Music Man basses for some reason.
I can relate. I sold everyone I owned ( 5) until my latest Special 5H. I finally found the perfect combo. My Amethyst Sparkle is my forever bass. I think it is alder rather than ash. I’ve sold every ash bass I’ve ever owned.
