Can I plug this directly into my power amp?

Does it just have to be the last pedal in the chain?

What should I expect the difference between the pedal/rack pre?

Not sure whether the EBS can drive a power amp, but any pedal that you expect to have enough output to drive a power amp will have to be the last pedal in the chain. Are you asking about differences between the EBS and a specific other rack preamp, or are you asking about pedals versus rack preamps in general?

Rack vs.pedal preamp I could search, but what I was really curious to know was if the valvedrive would work the same as any other rack pre (as in no need for anything else, but the pedal/bass/poweramp/speaker). Now come to think of it - it's probably the same as an onboard pre. which are also not capable of working as a preamp....then again I dunno? Fellas?

It will drive a power amp, and though I love the pedal as an effect, I'd use another preamp if I were driving a pwr amp with it. All passive eq on it, which would be a deal breaker for me.
