Just learned about him having cancer, no more than a month ago. A disease that progresses quickly. I hope to see a cure in my lifetime.

I saw Mr. Money around the time of his debut LP and he was a good performer.

I always liked his music. When I played in cover bands in the early 80s, we did several of his songs. My old band opened a few shows for him. Very nice guy. He also did a lot of charity work.

We met him and his wife by chance in Vegas a few years back. He was very polite and humble. It was a real treat.

I did a phone interview (for my newspaper) with Eddie prior to a 2008 show at the community college in Avon Park, FL. I enjoyed his music and I told him my band at the time was doing Two Tickets. I remember the concert probably started at 6 or 7 and then having to make quick trip to my gig that night, which was about 20 miles away. I invited him to come down to where I was playing, but he was probably heading back to his home or his next show.
Ironically, I am playing the same place tonight and we started doing Two Tickets with my current band about three months ago.
Instead of running the photo of me and Eddie again - here is a photo of him playing the sax and a couple of pics of his bass player that night. Of course I recognize the Stingray 5 because that is what I play, but what is the other bass?

Sad news. I heard "Think I'm in Love" for the first time a month or so ago, and I spent the last few weeks discovering his other stuff. Rest in peace, Mr Mahoney.

I once saw him with a bassist who had great hair but hacked his show to bits. Learned the songs off records, wasn't paying attention to Eddie's vocals that didn't always follow the pattern of the records, and I wanted to tell him so badly to fire that guy and hire me, but I couldn't get close to him. OTOH, didn't seem to hurt his career.

I was diagnosed with the same cancer (esophageal). Six weeks of chemo, radiation then surgery and I was 100% cancer free and back to work a month later. He was right, it’s not a death sentence, but only if it’s caught early. I read his story and felt he was telling mine. The only difference was I was stage two. Get checked out, I had an 8 cm tumor and had virtually no symptoms. Don’t put it off, especially if you’re over 50. RIP Eddie.
