Eden Amps No More?

Remember, opinions are not necessarily based in fact. There are plenty of players using the many thousands (or tens of thousands) of Shuttles, ShuttleMax and Streamliner amps of all models without any of the issues claimed. They were plenty successful.

True. Never said they weren’t. However I was talking about speaker a cab’s efficiency impacting the amount of decibels produced across amps used. . The OP, said the amps you stated were not as loud a 400 Watt Eden head.

Yes at the time I was doing direct comparisons. Loud gigs meant I was always taking my Epifani UL1 4ohm 410 cab.

Thanks. Got it. I was just ruling out a possibility.

I have 210 Eden D series cabs. The 210-XST is rated at 500 watts RMS and when powered with a 400 watt amp it can create up to 127 dB. I’ve used it to cover rooms seating 500 with out FOH so it can cover most inside gigs. I’ve used it with an Eden’s WD-800 (mono), WT-300v, as well as my rack set up, the Navi preamp and WT-1250 (mono) so I have a pretty good Idea what 400 watts of an Eden amp sounds like.

I bought a Mesa WD-800 a couple of years ago for gigs where I only need one cab. I found that setting the ohm selector to 2 ohms when powering an 8 ohm cab, it generates 300 watts, and it’s still enough to cover a lot of inside gigs. Outside however, I use a second cab. As for setting it @ at 8 home to get the full 400 watts, I can’t discern a difference between Eden’s 400 watts and the Mesa’s, although I much prefer the ease of the tone shaping capabilities of Eden amps. And that might be the cause of some of what your are hearing.
