Eden D210XST Needs Beano

Their site is still down. The speakers should be the same model - the one's listed in my last post. Somebody has mixed the speakers on you. I would get the correct drivers and see how you like it. Or sell it ....

Best ...

Dave

I ended up replacing all of the drivers in my Eden 410xst after buying it used. Similar situation from Craigslist. Anyhoo, I just slapped two pairs of different Eminence drivers at about 200 watts each. They weren't expensive. The tens also work well with SVT cabs. Because the cabinet was and is solid as concrete (and small), I wanted to keep the box. The Eminence didn't break the bank and they sound great and can take a beating.(made in USA). Long story short, I spent way too much for a box but it all worked out. Just replace the drivers and keep it or sell to recoup.

Note: Like everything these days, Eden's stuff has declined by spreading too thin on model choices and overseas manufacturing. The older Eden stuff, (pre-2004 or 2005, not shure) was almost all in-house made in the U.S. I love their stuff but they still think they're still gourmet when they're not.

My view is that you have two choices.

1) Buy two of the correct drivers and use or sell the cabinet as you wish.

2) Sell the cabinet as an "AS IS" item for a project.

In neither case will you recoup the money you invested.

That's the dilemma.

At this point I think I'll replace the drivers and decide whether to sell or keep the cab, depending on what it sounds like. It appears to be a very well built cabinet, looking on the inside.

As a follow up, I replaced the blown speaker and the cab sounds really good like it never did. As I suspected, I must have been playing with a blown speaker ever since I got it. The other remaining speaker, although not blown, has severe creases in it. So, I ordered another 10 to replace that for good measure seeing the cab sounds so good. Price of a USM-EC1060XS8E went up $5.00 from last month.

Sent a pm. For the record I have the same cab and replaced the drivers with some eminence ones for the time being. I do love this cabinet and for those questioning it, it is one of the loudest 2x10's I've ever had. I was able to kick the crap out of my friends crappy 4x10.

Eden does make some wonderful gear. Dont care what anyone says.

That's great news. 210XSTs are awesome - you might never need another 210 cabinet, or maybe any other.

Another happy 210XST owner here. It's a keeper. (I pair mine with a 210XLT) Give it a try when it's in good repair before you think about selling it.

Hello Friend. In the same boat. EBay bought 210XST with two blown woofers. Did you say you got the original XST woofers replaced or what did you replace them with?

The woofers are $150 each and you have to order them from a repair shop. They will not sell direct.

If anyone can recommend a good replacement woofer please let me know. This is the 4ohm version.

You bought directly from Eden or from one of their service shops? I was told they do not sell direct. I'd like to order one from Indiana or Michigan to avoid the 10% Chicago Sales Tax (yes that right 10%). =(

Did you consider getting them re-coned?

Reconing was no deal when you consider shipping both ways - nobody local for me.

This is what I have got:

The speaker’s p/n is USM-EC1060XS8E. Please call 1-800-877-6863 to place an order. thanks

Thanks. I will give them a try. I'm in IL so I'll probably have to pay tax plus shipping. It might make sense just to have the repair shop order them and see if they'll skip the $60 "labor" to install them.

Damn I feel like we should have a beer together to commemorate the pain of trusting people to be honest when selling used equipment. We got stuck in the same boat here didn't we?

Yeah, but I had plenty of opportunity to check the speakers. I'll still have a beer, though :-) The place I bought from was local and had a 15 day return policy. I have since bought an Ampeg BXT210M from the same place. As soon as possible I got into the cab and gave the speaks a thorough inspection. This time it turned out to be a great deal.

Ebay is tough for some items. I recently picked up a ready-to-play bass on Ebay for $285and paid $50 for shipping. It seemed a great deal. It turned out the bass was not ready to play and required some work like all hardware was secured by common over-sized zinc wood screws. It looked like hell and going back to the ad I realized the guy took pics in a way that avoided showing the deficiencies. On top of that there were dings not disclosed and the neck needed adjustment. No big deal on the dings and neck, but it was still deceptive.

I was not in the mood for a project, but another $50 return shipping I am into it for $100 just to receive and return it. I bit the bullet and drilled out all the oversized holes, stuck dowels in them and redrilled them for the correct screws. I brought the bass back to nice condition and I am happy with it now, but I still got into something I had not planned on. Or my other choice was to lose $100 in shipping for nothing.

I think we take a chance on buying anything used and as I have learned from all I said above, I think it is up to us as buyers to protect our own a$$.
