I'm looking for opinions from people who have used either of these cabs. On paper (or the screen) they look pretty cool for the price, but they don't seem to be very popular and don't seem to be stocked by the bigger retailers. My point of reference for a small cab would be an Epifani UL-110.

I've done a search and it seems as though some of the comments are based on a different model (Eden D112XLT. Just to be clear, these are the cabs I am interested in.

I've got a 4ohm 112 on order now, but it hasn't been shipped yet. I plan on running it as an extension for my Roland CB100 combo.

The reviews I've seen (couldn't find one to try locally) report that the cab is mid-range heavy and farts out easily with a 5 string. Also the unused input jacks need to be plugged. Those drawbacks don't bother me...I do have a 5 string, but my Roland gets just as much use as an electric guitar amp, as a bass amp. And I have tons of foam earplugs around to plug the unused inputs. Also, according to the reviews, most of the problems diminish when more than one cab is used.

I will let you know as soon as mine arrives and I try it out. If the problems I mentioned bother you, check out the Hartke Hydrive 112. I would have purchased one of those instead, but I don't run an extension that often...so I didn't want to spend the extra money.

I have the 4 ohm Ex112. Its an amazing little cabinet, I can't believe it isn't talked about more on here. Do a search, there is at least one or two threads on it that I commented in.

It is NOT a high-volume cabinet. If you plan to fight a drummer with one you should look elsewhere (though you could overcome drums with two of the 8-ohm ones). If you have a low-volume situation, it is clear, flat, sweet sounding, and VERY portable. It is very similarly toned to an EA Whizzy.

I use mine with a GK MB200 microhead for practicing and with my upright for 3 piece jazz combo gigs. Its perfect for coffee-house situations as well as for a pit orchestra or church gig stage monitor. That's what its designed to be, and how it should be used.

It only has one 1/4" jack on the back, which I promptly replaced with a speakon jack for just a few bucks and a few minutes of effort. The plastic corners say "Nemesis", as they are using up left over stock from the discontinued Eden Nemesis line. They are standard plastic corners of good quality, I could care less what they say upon close inspection.

I defy ANYONE to find a better sounding micro-cab at this price point.

Eric, it sounds like it'll be a perfect match for my Roland. Not looking for a lot of volume, just more fullness. If it has only one input jack...I wonder where all the complaints about the "whistling unused jacks" are coming from--maybe the 8ohm?

Can't wait for mine to get here.

I was thinking of pairing one or two of them with an MB200 as well. How is the low end? Do you miss the high end you get with a tweeter or does the second cone do a good job at filling in the high end?

I just received my EX112 yesterday. After testing it at home I have to compliment Eric on his great review...it is exactly like he described...right down to the "Nemesis" corners.

It has a very sweet tone. It did add a surprising amount of volume to my Roland CB100. Enough to rattle the windows. I won't get a chance to really test the cab out at a higher volume until later in August---that's when my next loud (for a church) gig is.

The only downside to this cab is the placement of the handle...just a little weird, and it makes the cab a bit more awkward to carry. But it is very sturdy, and the cab is very light, so it isn't a big deal. The cab itself also appears to be very well built.

I'm very happy with the cab...it's as close to a matching cab as you'll find for a Roland bass amp.

Any chance you played that at higher volumes yet? I am looking for a living room low-volume cab and the EX112 is looking like the front runner so far. Haven't really shopped cabs or amps in ages and now there are a ton of mini stacks and tiny class Ds all over the place - good stuff!

Has anyone compared the EDEN EX112 with the GK NEO 112-11 cab? Both 300watt lightweight cabs, wanted for small jazz gigs on 4 string fretted bass. I use a Little Mark amp (250 watts at 8ohm). In Uk the GK is around around 290 pounds and the Eden about 230. I wonder if the GK is worth the difference?

ZOMBIE THREAD RESURRECTION

Just got my EX112 on clearance from Ebay for $140 after shipping, refurb. Looked new, sounds great. Very compact unlike the GK 112 NEO which is why I will give the edge to the Eden here (And I'm a big GK fan). Handles the low B fairly well... dont want to push it. It wont handle it for gig volume with a drummer but neither would my old GK NEO 112.

Tone wise its strong in the mids low & high to my ear. Shy in the lows but you can boost that in the amp & it handles it well. I like having the lows down a bit with a small cab so I'm not blowing it out by default you know?

Overall... very impressed... certainly a LOT less than a Berg CN112. I could make a stack of these for less than $300? I may do it...

I'm going to try it at a church gig. The room is HUGE but I'm not up too high there anyway. May replace my GK NEO 115 I bring to church... I have a stack of those that I really like.

Another Zombie resurrection. I have the GK MB200 head. Love it! Sounds awesome with a 115 or 410. Now I want a 112 for portability. Here's where the shoe pinches-- I don't know whether to get 1 x 4ohm cab or 2 x 8ohm cabs. If I use a 4ohm compared to the 8ohm will the power sound significantly more with a 4ohm cab? And secondly, I'm wondering what a pain it would be to remove the 1/4" single plug and add a dual speakon connection?

So, for the MB200 and 4ohm Eden, is it pretty loud and should I leave it at that?

Thanks for any replies...

I'm sorry I can not help. I have almost the same dilemmas.

1) I have the 4 ohm EX112 and a TC BH250 head. It is indeed a good sounding, very portable rig. Even so, I wonder if 2 x 8ohm EX112 would make a more flexible and louder choice. I never play that loud at home practice anyway and think a single 8ohm EX112 cab is enough for that everyday use. I do have another, larger rig, though. It features 115+210 cabs and a more powerful head.

2) I bought the speakon socket, but never got around to installing it. I planned on making a new hole and wire in parallel, though.

What I can say is that I like the sound. My home/portable rig with that EX112 not about to change any time soon.

Thanks Shardik. I'm thinking the 80hm cab would be my best choice as it will allow future expansion with another 112EX. I think the dual Speakon conversion would be a pretty easy upgrade, the dual speakons sell for $12 on eBay.

Thanks for chiming in. All suggestions welcome here. :)

I currently have two EX112-8's and GK Neo112-II and Neo212-II. In my personal experience, they ARE a little different, but not as much as the pricing suggests. I had the Edens first and regularly used a single one (with GK MB200 and MB500) for band practices that got pretty loud with two guitars and a fairly loud drummer in a small finished basement corner. I had no problem keeping up without pushing the single cab too hard (The MB500 had far more left in it than the MB200, of course.) They're great, small cabs at the price point. They're actually surprisingly efficient for the form factor and price point and I personally think they sound very good.

I'm also curious as to why they don't get more attention. Mine have taken a back seat now to the GK's simply because I've always been a GK guy (for amp heads) and sometimes needed more volume than the two EX112's provided... but not enough to warrant the Berg NV610. I'll probably sell the Edens, just because it's redundant and they take up some of my limited space at home... or I might keep one to leave in a rehearsal space.

Good morning Mike, thank you for just the kind of answer I was looking for. As this is a backup system, I'm thinking I agree with you. The MB200 will work well with the 112EX 8ohm. And later I can add a second.

Question: How do you run two EX112's from the MB200? Did you change out the 1/4" connectors? That's the only thing I see as an issue.

Well, since I own both the MB200 and MB500 (as well as a 1001rbII,) I just grabbed the 500 if I thought I'd need two cabs. I've never been forced to deal with the single output issue. I'm not sure what would be the best solution for that, as I've yet to research the options.
