Eden Nemesis ENX260

THIS seems like it might be a cool, low cost, lightweight amp. 250W @ 4 ohms, weighs 4 lbs, costs $450.

Have any of you guys tried this particular head ? If so, what were your impressions of it ? Searching didn't really reveal any info.

Thanks !

I own one. It's currently my only head, although I also have a Traynor YBA-200A (200w, all-tube) on ongoing rental.

The ENX-260 has great tone and is small and compact. It's powerful for it's size, and when paired with a good cabinet it can move a lot of air, but I would be hesitant to gig with it.

I plan to keep it as my practice/studio/backup/guitar amp, but I'm looking to replace it for rehearsals and gigging. The reason I'm hesitant to gig mine is that it has several limited stages - it has an input limiter, an EQ section limiter, and an output section limiter. All are non-defeatable. These limiters make terrible noises when they kick in and they do so pretty early - while I could coax reasonable rehearsal volumes out of the unit if I tried, I would hit the limiters at least a few times.

So yeah - a good solid little amp for practicing or recording. If I did acoustic or jazz work, I suspect it would be just fine for that. But although it can cut it for the hard-rock I play, it's a barely-there sort of thing. I just want more power out of the unit before the limiters kick in.

Definitely try one out if you can. The tone is great, there's just not quite enough power for me - but it might be enough for you.

I bought the ENX-260. To use as a DI and to power the speaker in my Yorkville XM-200 combo. It only cost me about $200 more than a SansAmp Bass DI and I immediately sold my SansAmp. I think it sounds better that the SansAmp as a DI and for the extra $200 I've good a headphone amp, 260 power amp, mute switch with tuner out and more I/O than imaginable.

It does have the golden-ear chip. An compression also I believe, it's just not switchable. There is a peak light on the preamp and the suggested sweet spot setting is with the peak light just coming on occasionally. This seems to be the compression zone. I believe reducing compression is a matter of reduce the input drive and boosting the output level.

Thought I should add that the ENX-260 does color the sound considerable but in a good way since I like a warm, fat tube sound. One of the basses I use (Ibanez ATK300) gets pretty noisy if I turn the treble control above 1/2. With the ENX260 I notice a big reduction in the noise level telling me the amp is scooping the upper mid or lower treble part of the spectrum.

Nice! just ordered one from Musicians Friend through Amazon. This unit is apparently on closeout so it's no longer available through MF directly. $280! new! Couldn't pass that one up. I'm going to be using it as a back up head and for smaller stuff when I don't need to drag out the SWR Bass 750. I'm using the Nemesis 2x10 and 15 cabinet so it'll make a matched stack as well. Just thought I'd share the savings while they're still around. The other sites that still have this unit are selling it for around $450!
