The day before Thanksgiving after months of research and driving to try out amps - I went and bought a used Eden WT-550. It looked like it was in great condition - and I brought a bass I don't love the sound of and it made it sound amazing.
I went and bought a Bergantino NXT 210 last weekend. Yesterday, I plugged them both in and the Eden now has a constant VERY loud hum - even when the master is turned all the way down and the bass is unplugged. I've done all kinds of troubleshooting and it looks like this is definitely an amp issue (not a cab, cable, or interference issue). It is a nightmare.
So, here are my questions:
I am in love with this sound. Should I just repair it? The used shop I got it from will help with that repair, but they warned that issues may re-emerge after their 30 day warranty expires.
Should I find another one that isn't made in China? Maybe one of the U.S. ones will be more reliable?
Should I just move on? I can still get my money back. I want the Eden sound. And lots of research on here and other forums tell me a Genz-Benz Streamliner, a Mesa WD-800, a Genzler Kinetix 800, or (maybe) a Darkglass M900/600 might be very similar.
I should add that I like the clean, but colored gospel tone Eden provides. I have no interest in a sterile or overdriven tone.
If you think I should just save myself the trouble with Eden, let me know which you would go with to get that CLOSE to identical sound.
Thank you!
