Eden WT800 v GK1001RB

Change to the GK Neo212 cab?

I'm doing similar music, and I use the GK700rbII, along with the GK212. It's a great setup, and sounds wonderful. And you gotta love the fact that the cab only weighs in at only 64 lbs. I added an EBS MultiComp a couple of months ago, and run it in tubesim mode. The best way to describe the tone is "thick, warm and punchy."

I have the WT-800 with a 210 XST and a 215 XLT. Had a pair of 210 XST's before I swapped for the 215. Tried a GK and it wasnt for me, I think the Eden stuff matches up well, in terms of amp/cab and there was something extra in the sound for me. For reference, I think I got more out the cabinet change than really any amp would've provided (in a similar power/quality range).

That said, not sure what specifically you are looking for in that equipment change. I believe you'd need to crank up the whole setup at least for a good long practice with your band to tell whether it would be worth it--my setup doesn't really come alive til the volume gets up over noon on the master. I'm not sure whether one can tell what they really have til A/Bing in the mix with everyone cranked up and when paying attention to the playing and the rest of the sound with it, not just checking out bass and the amp by itself.

I don't think the 215 I got would've won any A/B tests over the 210 XST with just bass, but in the room with the band, it's on! I don't know how to describe it, but it's so even in terms of response on all notes of my bass (4-string tuned down a whole step). The pair of 210's were sweet higher up the neck, but got lost in the mix on the lowest notes. Somehow the 215 managed to even that out without having to EQ it to make it happen. Goodness
