I use a Zoom H2 several times a week...I bought it not long after getting the Zoom H4 and lending it to a guitarist friend of mine who took a shine to it!! [All of his gear is in Holland aside from one guitar and one battered but loved Boss pedal...he's sorely missing a Mesa Boogie rig, recording PC with Cubase etc...thought the least I could do was let him hang onto the H4 for a bit]
If you mainly want the stereo recording go for the H2, if you want to do simple demo recordings (ie laying down a guitar and then overdubbing bass & vocal) go with the H4 as it has the combi inputs so you can use a decent vocal mic, and use a modelled amp for the DI'd gtr/bass...
Having said that I've also used an M Audio MicroTrack which is OK, but the H2 is much better value (and it records 4 channel surround! which is actually useful for recording a rehearsal if you have the recorder with vocal PA on one side, drums other side you can get a better balance afterwards...)
