Effects Addict Club

If I took all the effects off of my songs they would be at least 48.297% more boring than they already are.

I don't like the looks of those odds.

I disagree. I think your songs hold up just fine sans effects. However, they are a good example of how effects can really help to create a specific sonic flavor. Effects don't define, but rather add to, your playing.

Dude, you have a problem. I think an intervention is required to remove all the temptations from your life. If you give all your pedals to me, you'll be cured. ;)

i seriously do. i have like 4 pedals coming in the mail. Although I am Making A LOT of progress. My GAS for the Lovetone ? and Ring Stinger has ended (hence the Maxon Flanger). My pedalboard won't house all these monsterous pedals.

If I ever give up the Bass or Flaming Lips tribute band (I can dream can't I?) I'll let you know first which pedals are going.

Am I an addict if everytime I hear the word 'meatball', I think of an envelope filter?

i respond the same way. heck the other day i was on a date and while we were walking between art galleries i was making envelope filter sounds verbally (slurpy liquidy sounds). who does that? seriously, this chick was like "what is that, what are you doing?". i answered "it's funky noises".:D

Guess I'm number #17 then.

I've got way too many pedals (like > 100 - and that's just the fully functioning ones). I like to tell my wife they are for "education purposes" (I teach a class on the technical side of music), but the truth is I just love them.

Got 4 pedals yesterday. I need to go a moratorium though because I'm out of spending money. I should spend some time fixing the drawer full of dead pedals I have (or finish building a few I have in various states of completion).

Everytime I hear Meatball now, it makes me want to play something funky.......and also makes me hungry.....

Just like with my motorcycles, after I while I think I spend more time working on stuff than actually using it. Luckily I find that fun too. I was just working on getting a 4ms Phaser Fleur up and running a few minutes ago.

BTW, you aren't the same jetpack guy as the one who mods the Digitech XP100 -- XP400 pedals are you?

Will there be a 2nd date or did that indefinately destroy your chances? :)

My girlfriend sings no matter where we are or what we're doing so I usually just do the bass line with her. It works out perfectly. :)
