Effects That Don't Exist, But Might Sound Cool

I'm kind of surprised there isn't a pedal that wouldn't do anything to your sound, but spits out control voltage or expression based on level input. Kind of like half of an envelope filter, but where you can have it control any other pedal's expression input.

It's called an Envelope Follower, and any company that makes modular analog synthesizers offers one.

After one of those "The Wife" pedals I would like a Drive pedal that has the amount of drive controlled by an expression pedal so that you can sweep in the drive from a clean sound to super saturated and then back again.

maybe I just need a pedal that would blend an FX loop into and out of a dry signal?

You could use a 3rd Hand to control the drive knob of any pedal that starts at clean.

I remembered today how I really liked the octave section of the EHX BMS, much more than the filter section. It's the best octave up I've played with. So, I'd love to have just the octave section.

About 30 years ago I had an Electro-Harmonix Talking Pedal - a combination vocal formant/auto wah/distortion pedal for guitar that sounded amazing.
The pedal swept between A E I O and U vowel sounds, and the distortion tone was deadly. With the right settings & footwork you could make mind-bending guitar "speeches" in Martian!
I contacted EH a few years ago to ask if it would ever be re-issued, but they said they couldn't because a dual-shaft potentiometer used in it's construction was no longer available from the manufacturer.
The recently issued Talking Machine pedal is a pale shadow of the Talking Pedal, and doesn't even begin to replicate the mind-blowing sonics of the original.
I want to see the original Talking Pedal re-issued, in both guitar and bass versions.

i would absolutely LOVE if line 6 would make a multi-effects that made a routing matrix and the appropriate I/O to send some effects to the preamp and others to the effect loop.

or maybe they did and i didnt read the manual close enough. i hate the idea of buying a slick tube amp and having to choose. or run more things. the guys at diezel have their heads in the right place. the vh4s head has "insert" jacks on every channel so you can assign an effect (or series of) to a single channel, always on and ready. im sure a midi integrated rig could pull it off, but their idea is simpler.

That is a fantastic idea- you really should do something with that! I think it would seriously sell. There are many people here who could help you.

I want a filter similar to what is on the BMS that can be triggered by either an external signal (drum machine, sequencer, effects loop tremolo signal, etc) or a footswitch. I know a lot of this stuff is available on synths, but synths aren't so convenient as pedals are.
