What you should do is contact TB member Sarnz. He is currently on Spring Break and a great guy. He is the one who modeled the Tele-Basstard.

Im sure he would take sometime and make you a mockup. I mean, maybe you could pay him, or offer him something in return, but he is a nice cat. Im sure he would be cool about it.

You're going to re-cut the J-Bass to that body style?

How then are you going to have striper woods? Or will that just be a paint job? I would just have the Jazz's fretboard inlayed with the Egyptian symbols, and then just change over to new gold hardware.... maybe even a new pickguard (I'm sure even something gaudy [like the pyramids] would look cool on a bass like that)............ Add some flats, and, if you're really in the mood for a makeover (and have the cash), have a shop route out the body and install a humbucker.

[EDIT] All this is, of course, assuming that you leave it as a white Jazz, and don't cut the body.

Just my opinion... and with that, I have given myself GAS.

I'm going to sell the Jazz Bass body on eBay, and make a new one.

...................!?!?!?!? WHAT!?!?!:eek:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
WHY?? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY???? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PLEASE NOOOOOO.:crying::crying::crying::crying:

Gold hardware will look awesome on that bass! Come on Faraohs were buried with gold!

I just realized that I need to put a BAII on my fretless... so I'll put the silver one on my fretless, and buy a gold one for the fretted. The tuning pegs will reamin silver, and I'll have two gold and two silver knobs (with abalone on the tops on them).

If you want, and I don't know how it would hold up, you could put gold leaf on the tuner.

The headstock does not match the body design at all. The inlays are way too varied - if I were you I'd stick to just 1 symbol. Plus: ebony fretboard, gold hardware, no pickguard and something like Butterscotch Blonde or Amber as color/finish. And I would start from scratch instead of ruining a good bass - patching is always more difficult than starting fresh (I guess). Good luck!

i did a search for my name looking for a thread and this one popped up so i thought i'd check it out.

i think it is a cool idea.

is that the body you are referring to? the one in your drawing looks longer and thinner (which I like better than the fat one).

i could probably model that fairly easily in 3d, the hardest part, the bridge, is already done! if you give me a rough estimate of the 3 body dimensions i could do it. and are you planning on jazz pickups or fatter ones like in the picture? is the body on yours going to be symmetrical or do you want it just like the other alembic body?

i could see all those different inlays costing a bit of moolah, especially that pharaoh one, but definitely a cool idea. let me know about those specs and i should be able to make a model for you
