EHX Analogizer

So it's an *analog-flavored* digital looper/delay or something? Could be pretty cool- I have a couple of older digital delays that do some very analog tricks; gimme enough delay/loop time* & I'd be prettty aroused. ;)

* I didn't see any deets on loop capacity or delay time... :hmm:

It's not a delay. It's some kind of waveshaper/static filter/signal degrader that makes your signal sound more "analog". Most likely just a fixed eq, some lowgain distortion and some more eq - perhaps a rate-reducer to simulate analog delays at long delay times.

*Ahh sorry, I stand corrected: It has some delay 3,5-65ms is the range - This is probably to catch the tone of an analog delay, both the signal loss in the BBD and the aliasing.

The instructions are on the EHX site (copied below). It's a boost pedal with a slapback delay.

GAIN – Controls the input gain of your ANALOGIZER. The available gain ranges from 0 dB to +”+26dB. As you turn the GAIN knob clockwise, the GAIN increases.

SPREAD – Controls the delay time of the ANALOGIZER. The delay time range is from 3.5 mS to 65 mS. As you turn the SPREAD knob clockwise, the delay time increases. Adjusting the SPREAD knob in the lower half of its range will produce tonal variations in the effect; adjustment in the upper half of the SPREAD knob’s range can be used to thicken up your sound.

BLEND – Varies the mix of direct and effected signals from 100% dry when set to counter-clockwise to 100% wet at full clockwise.

VOLUME – Controls the output level of the ANALOGIZER. As you turn the VOLUME knob clockwise the volume at the output jack increases. The VOLUME control is after the BLEND knob in the circuit.

Kind of interesting, but I kind of like my digital pedals for the most part. I think it would be much, much better of an idea if the pedal had a loop where you could drop in really "clinical" sounding pedals (like say a POG) and "warm" them up a bit as opposed to effecting your entire signal.

Maybe kinda clever. Interested to see how it sounds...

I wonder if anyone would be willing to try out bit crusher >> Analogizer just to see what'd happen. Any of you frantabit owners gonna bite the bullet on this one?

Edit: So this basically represents a handful of settings at the minimum delay levels of the DMM. I gotta say though, it is one of my favorite ODs, so the combo of gain and volume knobs is pretty exciting for me...

It will take any digital effect and transform its sound into that creamy dream like analog sound you here in a pedal like the original Memory Man.
It will also overdrive producing a wonderful warm OD effect.
It is GREAT on bass as well!

A video demo will be available very soon!

It is this kind of marketing speak that makes me want to turn and run. It appears to just be adding a delayed layer to the signal.
