EHX Analogizer

+1. EHX has..... an interesting design process.

by which i mean they throw ass loads of ideas at the wall, don't flesh them out, never try to play them to see if they sound good, don't test the market to see if anybody WANTS it then rush it out in unreliable build enclosures.

INTERESTING.

Next month, they will release the Digitalizer. Are you tired of all that analog imperfection? The Digitalizer cleanses your signal of those sonic impurities and instills a cold, sterile, lifeless sound to your playing, nothing like the modern digital effects we produce which don't sound cold, sterile or lifeless.

I think it is a BBD chip with almost no delay time or feedback capability combined with a boost, based on their crappy description.

The controls on it make me think it could be an interesting and useful pedal as some sort of a preamp-like thing, but this marketing spin is not so good, IMO. If it makes your digital pedals sound analog, will it make your analog pedals sound analogier.

It's also possible that it is the second coming of the Nano-Clone.

The new Behndyizer, from EHX. Take those drole tones and make them into drone tones! This new Digi-Log processor takes your signal and analoguizes and digitalizes it, then combines them into a new form called Digi-Log. Take your tones in a whole new direction!

I would love to be so famous as to be offered an endorsement by the big pedal makers. Unfortunately, I don't own a single Boss or EHX pedal. The closest I come to a big company pedal is my MXR EQ. Everything else is snob or low-rent territory.

pssssh. i don't even mind Big Boy companies.... when they do interesting stuff. the Boss Ps-6 is loads of fun.

..... thinking about getting a Pitch Factor instead though. still, Eventide's Big Boi ne?

I was thinking about the pf also but disregarded for the same reason. Yes...I am soooooo snobby about pedals. But I like being that way.

Is this pedal just the box of awesome with a new name?

Hmmm...the spread control is interesting. Maybe the delay is there not so much to produce a true echo, per say, but to cause a phase discrepancy, which in turn can be utilized as a sort of tone control.

As for EHX's wackiness - I think it's cool that there's a company coming out with inexpensive pedals that do odd things. Beats all the TS808 clones everyone seems to make. *groan*

nothing wrong with wacky. i LURV wacky. hell, i'd take wacky into my bed and do horrible, delicious things to her every night if i was better at talking my grrL into threeways.

i just hate **** design that's a decent idea, never thought through to a good conclusion. which, i feel EHX excels at.

I'm curious about this pedal as a potential way to warm up the (IMO) artificial sounding harmony effects on a Digitech Whammy or Boss PS-5/6/7 (whatever version they're up to).

I also disagree that EHX is making bad products, I think they are coming out with some great new stuff, particularly seeing how they turned the company around and brought it back from the dead. I saw somebody using their 256 Vocoder last week, and I loved it. So much so that I'm thinking of buying one, and I never liked vocoders before.

I use a preamp (Xotic BB Bass preamp) to warm up the digital harmonies of my Pitchfactor. I use it at very low gain, and does this job great. It also does tone shaping to my other pedals very well. I don't hear anything on this EHX Analogizer that other preamps as the Tech 21 VT Bass, Xotic RC, Aguilar Tone Hammer, Rusty Box... couldn't do (well, this and much more).

Also, I'm a happy EHX user (I love my Bass Microsynth), but this last product... well, maybe I'm not getting it.

By the way, are you using the Vocoder with voice, right? Hadn't heard of anyone using it with bass!
