Not seen this posted before so hope nobody already beat me to it: (There's also a Steel Leather demo in his other videos).
I don't want to be a hater, but I expected a bit more from the Bass Blogger. I love EHX products and am gunning for the new BMS, but the Blogger's "fuzz" or "distortion" was just too subtle for my taste. Steel Leather won't be purchasing any real estate on my board. Thanks for finding the demo vid though! Quenched any GAS inquiry I had for either pedal.
Yeah, I tried a bass blogger at one of my local music stores and wasn't terribly impressed with it. I liked the Big Muff way more, can't wait to here the bass version. Also found the overdrive settings on the blogger to be too subtle.
I really didn't like the Blogger at all ... However, the same guy's demo of the Steel Leather I loved, so I guess I just traded one kind of GAS for another.
there is so much love here anyway that video still lacked alot feature demonstrations 1. drive / volume 12:00 / tone 12:00 / drive 12:00 2. fuzz / volume 12:00 / tone 12:00 / drive 12:00 3. fuzz / volume 12:00 / tone hard left / drive 12:00 4. fuzz / volume 12:00 / tone hard right / drive 12:00 let's just say that when i buy a distortion pedal, i'm interested in knowing what the drive settings are like. not the tone settings (or volume for that matter)
sounds like a high mid boost. Fairly worthless to most bassists I think (not saying high mids are bad, saying that most bass players also have amps...)
The blogger does have a very subtle drive to it, but it perfectly retains low end. I love it for song parts where I need the bass to still be thick, but add some grit to the midrange. It works very well, but may not be everyone's cup of tea, depending on how heavy they like their distortion
Please don't spend any money on effects pedals... or amplification for that matter. There's certainly a high mid boost going on with Steel Leather, but it also boosts low lows, which doesn't come across well via youtube. And it's dynamic. Don't throw away your Steel Leather until you've tried it before your envelope effects! I got mine as soon as it came out and I'm still finding new uses for it. The Blogger appears to have an awesome 60s r&B overdrive. The fuzz sounded good to me, but wasn't anything I can't reproduce with something else. I would be on the fence but the horrible name makes the Blogger a pass for me.
