I'm not sure what you mean by "natural bottom end", but there isn't any significant bottom end loss with the Muff'n. The 3-band EQ certainly helps with finding the right tone for your situation. As with most distortion/OD pedals, a volume bump will probably be required to keep your place in the mix.

I'm not sure what you mean by "sansamp". If you mean as a DI, probably not. To be an effective DI, it would need a balanced (XLR) out which the EM does not have.

i tried plugging it straight in to the power amp section of my kustom 1200 and i personally didnt like it at all.. so i guess you can say yes you can drive a power amp but not very well.

Another bump as I recentely joined the Muff'n-club.
This was the missing link in my pedal set-up. I put it at the end of my chain and I use a low gain (2 o'clock) setting to add some 'tubby'-goodness to my sound.
Another thing I noticed, it makes my other pedals sound much better. Especially my Okko Basstard (distortion) and my Woolly Mammoth. Their tones are much more defined and clearer than without the Muff'n.
Needless to say, this baby is always on.:bassist:

To answer the question: a Cerwin Vega BG-250. Two hundred and fifty good-old American solid state Watts. This runs into a Peavey 4*10 TVX.
When I set this baby at level 4, my guitarists complain that it is too loud.:D

ive had one for about 4 months. to everybody asking about the tone, heres MY answere( which is obviously an opinion). with the stock 12ay7 tubes, its not my favorite overdrive, but.... if you switch those tubes out for some 12 ax7's, it changes into a whole different beast. so much more gain and grind, and i only have to turn the gain up to about 11 o'clock. obviously the amount of gain/drive also has to do with your amp,a nd in my case i dont need so much gain from the pedal because a have an SVT and a gibson grabber, both very heavy. hope that answeres a few of the questions. and no, it cant be used as a D.I box, no XLR. PM me if you have anymore questions. go buy one!

I just got an English Muffin. I really like it so far, I use it to bypass the preamp in my amp. I have the gain at "1." The EQ is not very sensitive, so to get the sound I wanted I had to boost the bass a lot.

This is my first real experience with tubes on bass, I can see why people like the tube sound. It does cut out some of the attack as you increase distortion. But it's like having a built in limiter or compressor. The distortion is so much smoother than a tube emulator. And it is very sensitive to dynamics.

It's a great way to turn your amp into a hybrid, sorta. Now I just need to add a direct out and parrellel out and I have an EHX sansamp.;)
