Eich T500 as a power amp

Hi,
A common thing I and mann toger have done om other amps. This is what the signal chain look like:
Bass -> external preamp -> effects return of Eich T500 amp

but I get very low volume

If it works well will other preamps, I would ask the question on the Monique thread, but it's surprising because the Line Level output signal is very hot. Did you pull and maxed the Line Level knob of Monique?

Trouble is there are preamps and preamps. A 'proper' preamp boosts the signal quite considerably to line level, but other preamps could be said to be more on the lines of sophisticated tone controls and put out no more signal than an instrument would. I couldn't find any specs on the Jules website to see which category it comes into.

A Jule Monique is very much a “proper” preamp, among the most sought after high-end preamps available today. They are built to run as preamps in front of power amps, though they have nice DIs too.

Something might be going on with this one. I’d suggest two things:

Run another preamp into your Eich in the same manner to rule out the effects return there as the issue. Maybe you already have.

Contact Jule Potter directly. [email protected]

(oh, and try it with a different cable too.)

Is the loop switchable to parallel? Is so, this could be the issue.

Are you using a TS cable or TRS? On some effects returns, TRS can be an issue if the ring floats.

Monique has two outputs and two output level controls. One output is intended to function as a DI and the other is intended to function as line out. To push a power amp, use the Line out and the Line Level control.

These specs are from a review I found online:

I believe most Moniques have a pull switch on the Line Level control. If you need a hotter signal pull the control out. Per the specs above, this changes the line output level from 0dB to +10dB

The Sensitivity control should also pull out for more gain. I like both controls out.

Per the Eich T500 OM, the effects return is 10K ohms with a 0dB sensitivity.

If you can, try another preamp with the Eich. If it works fine, then the Monique is either not patched correctly, not adjusted correctly, or something is wrong with it. Could be a bad tube. Or it could be something else.

That's exactly what I meant in my comment, but much better explained. From what I know and my experience of Monique, I can see no reason why you can't have enough volume if you pull the Line Level knob - except if you have an issue with the Eich itself.

@redtomfunk Did you try with the Line Level knob pulled?
