I saw that one on ebay, but I figured it was grossly overpriced. Ive seen a few around, but they rarely come up. Do they normally go in the 600-800 dollar range?

$600-$800 is pretty normal these days. There was one a few months ago that went for $1500:eek: , but I think that was a one time deal. Who knows? If you find the right buyer, $1200 is not that far out of line.

yea thats what I figured, but this guy is selling for a ridiculous amount. Maybe he will lower it to 1000 and I can slip in a best offer

Hi!

Does anyone have any clue where I could get the schematics for my 88' El Toro. I checked the official G&L site and the GBL site, but no... The wiring is getting so bad on my old bull that i cant rely on it on gigs anymore, so i'm gonna rewire everything. Maybe some other model is wired like the El toro?

I just wanna get it right ;)

That NAMM toro on ebay is funny - its been relisted over and over. Once in a while the BIN price goes down but it usually goes up or stays the same. :D Too bad I would love to have that bass.

There were several NAMM El Toros. I own one with the maple neck. I have four El Toros and I'm always looking to buy more when my money permits. That NAMM El Toro is worth the money in my opinion.

Its the same bass being listed over and over again on ebay and the price on it creeps up. Im sure its worth it, I would love to have it myself. Its just an odd selling technique. If noone is buying it, surely its more attractive at a higher price. :D

I too noticed that the price of the NAMM El Toro has fluctuated during its days on Ebay. Perhaps, the seller is watching how the dollar rises and falls and changes his auctions accordingly. The bass is worth $1100-1300 depending on its condition (it's worth less than $1100 if it has any visible wear). I don't play my NAMM El Toro at all. I give it the once over from time to time but I have other workhorse basses that I use for playing. I would like to buy the one Ebay to have a set. I believe there were 3-4 NAMM El Toros but there could have been one for each production year as well.

I couldnt do that, I would have play it if I bought it. I cant stand having instruments that dont get play time. Having a set for a collection would be cool though.

Can anyone explain how El Toro differs tonally from an L2000? My guess is that it is something between a first gen SB-2 or Lynx and an L2000.

It sounds like a big mean modern active jazz.
I *never* run the treble pot all open.
In series mode, the pup selector is defeated, in effect, it takes the two pups, and makes one big "double 'bucker" out of them.

I think my old SB-2 sounds like a big mean jazz. Is El Toro moreso?
