Hi Everyone,

New on this forum......and it just so happens that I'm fixing the electronics on a El Toro for a friend of mine, I have found the faulty schematic for the interceptor, if Andy knows the problem how can I contact him? Or can he tell me directly the problem with the schematic.......:help:

I am interested in knowing the defect in the schematic as well. I spoke with Matt at Guitarman and he was aware of the error in the diagram, but he didn't say what it was.

I also asked him about a replacement preamp, but he said that the model used in the El Toro's would not be available (unless scavenged).

Does anyone know whether another currently available preamp, perhaps the one used in the L-2000, would work in the El Toro? The switching on the L-2000 seems similar to the El Toro.

Thanks JT.....the link doesn't work though.

I did some modding to the circuit on my own....now the middle pot acts as sort of a bass cut/mid boost kinda thing (should it do that), at least i thought that the results sounded pretty damn good, the mystery pot is still the other "tone pot", what is that suppose to do exactly? Because now it doesn't alter the sound in any way.....hmmmm

The control layout is:
vol/teb cut/bass cut.
mini switches, from the neck to to bridge:
pup switching
paralell+series(cancels pups witching in series)
preamp off/on

Hi Jim:
Yes there is an error and IIRC it was how the pick up selector toggle was wired. It is only one wire. Someone shot me a picture of a stock El Toro or Interceptor and I wired mine from that.

I'd post on GbL and BABP requesting a detailed shot of a stock bull or Interceptor. I can't find an under hood shot in my vast G&l files and I recall that I modified a schematic and included it when I sold the bull. Best I can do for you...sorry!

Ken Baker and Jim Green at Link Removed or Link Removed are the guys to ask.
If you get an under hood shot of a stock Interceptor/El Toro forward it to me as well. I'd like to file that away somewhere.

Ok, SO
The bass is fixed works great and was used in the local band competition final last week....

I had a great deal of trouble getting the bass-cut pot working.....errrr i slapped the wrong value caps in there so it worked at around 44Hz, If your not a whale chanses are you can't hear those frequencies hahahahahahahaaaaaaa
