Electrical engineering thread!

I'm fairly certain there are a fair number of electrical engineers and students on TalkBass, so I thought it would be nice to start a thread to network and talk about our projects and work etc. :hyper:

Myself, I'm a sophomore EE at UMass Amherst. I'm looking for a summer internship if anyone knows a good place in MA ;)

My degree is a BS in Computer Engineering (concentration on VLSI) from the University of Michigan.

I've worked for:

Intel (VLSI design on the Pentium 4 and variants)

Precision Devices Inc. (Head Electrical Engineer - high precision metrology equipment)

University of Michigan Dept. of Aerospace Engineering (Electrical Engineer maintaining research and instructional lab equipment and doing circuit design for research projects)

BSEE 1972 University of Pitttsburgh.....I was the last graduating class to use a slide rule to really date me. Electrons used to have wheels back then.

I did 40 years in military and some civilian radar system development and production.

Ended my career with about 7 years in business management as a VP.

I retired late in 2010.

It paid really well, but all in all, I prefer retirement! Bass, birding, boats, band...

Got my MSEE last year with a focus in control systems, but right now I'm working in communications with some pcb design on the side.

Have you tried using indeed.com for internships? They're a pretty good search engine for jobs/internships. If you're an IEEE member you can use their website to search for jobs too.

I graduated with a B. Eng in 2005 at 33. I decided to go back to school after 8 years of working as a touring sound engineer/technician. In school I did mostly power systems related stuff but since I've graduated I've been working in electronics, including several years designing audio equipment for a small manufacturer of hifi gear, which has since gone under. I'm currently a hardware designer for one of the big manufacturers of programmable logic devices. I do board design for high end telecom FPGAs, IP core validation and hardware support for customers.
