Recently picked up this Electrical Guitar Company EGC500B. Based off of Travis Bean's last bass design (see pic below next to an original TB500B that Kevin at EGC was building). I had been wanting an EGC for quite a while and fate smiled on me when some unexpected funds became available the same day this bass popped up for sale. I don't think I have the patience to await a custom build, ha.

All aluminum construction with a custom EGC high gain humbucker...and high gain it is! This thing just sings. Rolling off tone knob takes you down to thumpville, with lots of usable tone in between. Really unlike any other instrument. Makes you just want to dig in. Weight is right at 9 pounds and balances very well. Incredible quality and pretty much bombproof. I have owned quite a few basses and this one is special.

Neck and body are hollow on the EGCs.The Beans are heavier...many had fairly heavy slabs of wood.

Very cool looking bass. looks like it took a lot of machining. Too bad the sound clip didn't show different settings and the difference using finger style and slap rather than just a pick. From that clip it isn't my cup of tea tone wise. Too bright. Maybe you could post some clips? Still cool none the less.

I dig it. I liked the sound in the clip actually, and he's playing thru a little cube Amp, so can only judge so much it would seem. Looks like the EB version of an Alcoa UB. Very cool.

I like it. Tone is right up my alley.
Back in the early '80s I played one of the rare Travis Bean 'Wedge' model guitars in a store, and while ergonomically awkward the craftsmanship, feel, and sound were very good so I was sold on the concept of aluminum necks.
