I owned the ELX112p's along with the ELX115p's and the ELX118p. IMO there is not a better system for the money. Just as good if not better than the QSC's and MUCH less money. I bought my 112's and 115's for $499 shipped. $600 for the 118. Add a DriveRack unit to the system and you'll be amazed at the sound.

ElectroVoice ELX 112P X Powered Speaker

I just got a pair of ELX112Ps too! Upgraded from JBL jrx100 passive cabs powered by a Crown XLS1500 amp. Gonna be running sound for a 90's hip hop/top 40 band that i work for on my bass playing nights off. Got them at GC and used a 150.00 off coupon so i couldn't pass it up. I A/B'd them with a pair of K12's and felt they sounded as good, but not better than, the K12's. If i had the extra cash i might have gone with the QSC cabs, but i needed the replacements asap since i blew the JBL's tweeters...

Why on earth would you add a driverack to a pair of powered speakers that are already processed and setup for optimum performance?
Not adding..just wondering what he used because when i learning what driveracks do i never noticed these speakers in the wizard setup lists. No worries vin, no driveracks in my future.
An a known engineer on another forum said it is marketing drivel. DBX made those to sell to people who buy powered speakers even though it isn't needed.
I will say again...

True but any graphic EQ will fix this. The driverack PX will work but since the powered speaker should be already tuned and bi-amped you will not need a system processor.
Why use EQ on your bass? Why use pedals? Show me someone who says they are useless and I will show you someone who says they aren't. I haven't personally used the DBX but if a Driverack is marketing then everything is.
A simple graphic EQ (or parametric) is all you need for your basic MI grade powered cabinets.
Especially for work on the bar/club level.
You will never dial in better limiters then are already provided by the manufacturer in there product, which besides adding a delay for a satellite speaker, is the only feature a entry level driverack device would provide you.
There are a lot of products on the market that do very little...if anything to improve performance.
The Driverack PX is one of them, the other is a BBE Sonic Maximizer.
Yet, people still buy them and think they make there gear sound better.
What ever works for you I guess.

BTW unless there was an upgrade the PX has been out for sometime so it isn't exactly new. As I mentioned earlier the PX will work but so would a 31 band EQ for half the money. The feedback supression might be nice although i rarely have feedback in the mains.So, i have used my elx112p cabs on 2 gigs so far. They sound great, but i feel like i have taken them up to their limit volume wise. I am replacing my yamaha club series cabs and a crown xls1500 bridged with these. The old setup just seems to throw more volume. Is it because of the speaker size, 12's vs 15's? Would i see more volume with the 115 versions instead or am i wasting my money?? Also run 2 yamaha dsr118 subs and have no issue at all with bottom end.
Probably should have bought the yamaha powered tops that match your system. Designed to work together. Sometimes mixing powered tops and subs of a different brand can cause problems. Are you running aux fed subs or coming out of the subs up to your tops?
