"Elevating" my sound?

That amp wedge is really cool. Not sure if it is worth $40 though. Maybe I'll just make some kind of stand myself. I'd like to tilt my new Epi back.

Take a look at the built-in tilt extension/handle EA puts on their cabs. I actually use the one on my CXL-112 pretty often, since I usually get about half a square foot to hang in when I'm doing jazz gigs, right in front of the cab. :hmm:

Can I get one for my Epifani?

You could build one into almost any cab if you're handy. It's just a standard Penn Fabrication (or similar) spring-loaded recessed handle, mounted flush to the bottom of the cab, near the front. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

If your cab has big enough feet to protect it, it wouldn't even need to be mounted flush, a surface mounted one could work fine I think.

Bass cabinets firing from in front and in back at the same time are a likely recipe for phase cancellation. If you like that sound, go for it.

that my friends, is a HUGE consideration. sound waves interact with one another. i can't tell you how many times i've had problems with bands when helping them with sound when their monitors started screwing with the sound of the mains because they insisted on having the monitors up at rediculous levels with everything going thru them. in at least one instance i turned the mains off. i had some of them coem out front after this.

"dude why do things sound so wierd and why is is so loud?

"DUDE, that's because that's how loud you guys want me to turn up the monitors, the mains arent even on"

"oh like wow dude, and i was gonna ask if i could get a little more of my vocal and guitar in my monitor"

If that were true, it would be a hard rule to never put bass in the monitor mix.

Personally, I keep bass out of my monitor mix, for that very reason. If it has to be there, I ask that the lows get cut sharply from the monitor mix. Next up: reverse the phase of the bass feed to monitor. If that can't happen, I cut the lows on my stage rig. How far apart the speakers are affects what frequencies get cancelled, but phase cancellation is an indisputable fact any time two speakers have any physical distance between them. But as I said, if the result sounds good to you, it is good.

There really aren't any hard rules when it comes to sound reinforcement that can't be ignored to good effect sooner or later.

I went to a Peavey tech clinic for salepeople once, and Marty McCann went through PA setup with us. He had us leave the monitors completely off until the FOH mix was completely dialed in. It was instructive to see how little sound was needed in the monitors at that point. I've had very good results with some bands using that approach, although usually I tend to just do both mixes at once. I'm lucky though, I tend to only work for bands that have stage volume issues figured out.

i think a lot of it may have to do with how much dope soem bands smoke in the parking lot before soundcheck - :rollno:
