Guitar strings will be outselling bass strings by some vast multiple -- there are more guitarists than bassists, and guitarists change strings way more often. I would bet that subdividing their guitar strings into even more tiers doesn't affect economy of scale much. Their least-popular guitar strings will outsell their most-popular bass strings.
I haven’t touched Elixir strings on bass or guitar ever since. Maybe they’re different today, but the thought of coated strings just doesn’t appeal to me anymore. I’d much rather replace my strings and have great tone and sound vs the alternative.

Anyone try these Elixir strings?
and the coating doesn't connect to ground, so touching the strings doesn't make you part of the ground, and if there are hums and buzzing from the electrical system, they won't go away.
