EMG 5 string passive set

You can use the pre you have with EMG 40P5 which is same size as 5-string HZ soapbars.
You'll need to be sure your vol and bal pots are 25k or 50k for active pickups, also.
If you're trying to find something that fits an existing P route (but for 5-string), I don't think EMG currently has something for that.
Also, does your existing pre have the vol pot before or after the preamp?
If it's after, you can use what you have, except for the bal pot.
If it's before, you'll need to change them both to the correct values.

This is for a new build, so the pickup rout will be made using the pickups, once the pickup to be used is at hand. I have other basses and none of them with a pj configuration, that's the reason for the build, to get that p sound. The vol pot is before the preamp, so if I go that route I'll follow your recommendations. Thanks a lot for replying.

Could always use a standard 4 string P with covers that have no holes?

You do have to make sure that the rails are long enough for your string spacing, though. Check the instructions for whatever pickup you're thinking of. They usually show you how long the rail is.
