So I pull out my LTD B404 out of storage, and it sounds funny. Really weird.
So I start tapping the pickups with a tiny hex driver. Very weird results
a) Bridge pickup. Each tap comes out through amplifier. on both lower row and upper row under each string. (it has 8 magnet poles, if I understand right)
b) Neck pickup.. This is where it gets weird. The upper row of magnets in pickup come through amplifier,when tapped with small hex driver, on Lower E and A string, and does NOT come through on D and G string.
The Lower row of magnets in pickup DO NOT come through amplifier,when tapped with small hex driver, on Lower E and A string, and DO come through on D and G string.
So, basically only 4 of the magnets in the bridge pickup respond, 2 in upper row, 2 in lower, as if it was a P-pickup. Is it supposed to sound like that?
