Double Bass Endpin "repair"

I wonder how many pieces the end block consists of...

I have a friend whose bass bar is loose, I wonder if that would work for him.
Why go to all that trouble? Just drive a few drywall screws through the top. Remember- measure twice/ fasten once. Just remember to keep your impact on low so you don't drive all the way through the top. Or for a more permanent repair, some 3/16" toggle bolts with fender washers on the top. That sumbitch ain't going nowhere.....

Now that I look at that pic again, I'm beginning to suspect that is not an endpin repair. It appears to me that there has been a glue failure on that bottom seam resulting in separation of the top lining and outer layer of veneer from the rib garland. Apparently gluing and clamping that seam was beyond the knowledge/skill of the owner.

Note there appears to be no damage around the endpin itself.
