I have a similar question involving the SVT 3 Pro -
I've been looking at the half stack deal that you can find at a lot of the online corporate stores, which is the SVT 3Pro with the SVT-410HLF. The HLF is rated at 4 Ohms, and I was trying to figure out if I could hook up the 8 Ohm SVT-15E to it, but a few websites I've visited about ohmage calculations tells me I would get a total of 2.667 Ohms set against the 3Pro. All this stuff about ohmage/resistance is frustrating to me and I'm not sure how much power each amp would get or if you can even combine those two different ohm amps to the same power amp like the 3Pro without frying something important.
Any thoughts on this?

Is the Sansamp RBi a rack unit? If I had it I would get a poweramp instead of the 3-pro. With the money saved there is the possibility of getting a Ampeg preamp as well maybe.
Ya, that's a good point. You could probably get twice the power for the price of a 3 Pro.All plug and play heads consist of a preamp and an (integrated) poweramp; so:
An ampeg 3pro consists of a (tube) preamp and a 450 watt poweramp ...
If you already have a rackable premap like the Sansamp RBi, you just can buy a power amp (last stage amplification, that what delivers the power a.k.a. the high watt numbers) and put it behind your preamp. The texture of your sound is mostly defined by your preamp (apart from what bass and kind of strings you use ... and effects of course), the poweramp makes it go louder.
