Envelope Filter - Flea/Bootsy sound

hey i'm looking for an envelope filter to give me that Flea/Bootsy Collins sound. I havn't had much luck finding one and i'm new to the whole effects scene. Any help would be really useful. Thanks in advance.

and on a completely unrelated note, i'm going to a Victor Wooten/Marcus Miller concert :bassist: in August! Man i cant wait :hyper:

Well, the first thing is that both Flea and Bootsy have many different envelope filter sounds they've used in different recordings, so there is no one "Flea/Bootsy sound". If you have a particular song or two in mind, we can tell you which pedals will get you close to that specific sound. It will help a lot if you state your budget, as some of the most Bootsy-like filters are very expensive. If you don't have any particular songs in mind, and just want a good envelope filter, then I'd suggest reading some of the many hundreds of threads we've had about them. ;)

The general pedals most people think about when it comes to either of those guys are the Electro-Harmonix Q-Tron+ and the Musitronics Mutron-III (which the Q-Tron is a descendant of... both were designed by the same guy).

But Boosty is also known to use plenty of other pedals, among which I know the Electro-Harmonix Bass Micro Synthesizer is included.

So yeah... narrowing it down to a few tracks you had in mind would help us help you. ;)
