Probably not helpful advice for you, but I use eurorack filters for bass effects there days and its pretty awesome. It might cost a little more than a xerograph deluxe but the filter options in euroland are seemingly endless.

But an envelope filter plus volume pedal isn't at all the same as envelope filter with expression pedal.

The Dunlop can be used as either an expression or volume.

Very happy with mine. Small footprint and made of metal unlike the DOD.

I just got an older Source Audio BEF Pro + a Hot Hand. The footprint is probably equal to your two pedals but obviously it's hand controlled. What I do like about the BEF Pro is the versatility and 2 banks w/ 3 presets each. I use 1 bank per band and between combining an OD and an OC-2, that's alot of sounds without having to twiddle knobs.

Sure. As can my Boss volume/expression pedal. But I was replying to somebody who was talking about using it in combination with the MXR bass envelope filter, which doesn't have an expression pedal input.

kinda off the beaten path but the EHX Blurst would probably fit the bill...It's what I used before I got a xerograph. It sounds good, not as good as the XD, but totally serviceable

...though it could be, depending on A) what effect the player is really tring to achieve, and B) how sensetive the detector in the envelope follower is.

There are a few multi effects (or multi modulation) pedals that let you control various parameters via expression pedal, though some of those are the size of two pedals even before you add the expression pedal.

Can anyone suggest a quality envelope filter with a sweep that can be controlled by an expression pedal?
I would like to have an IE Xerograph Deluxe or a 3 Leaf Chromatron but have had no luck acquiring either. I’ve tried the Pigtronix Resotron but could not dial it in. I am currently researching the EHX Enigma but have not found any sound samples with the expression pedal. Any advice on how to score a Xerograph or a similar alternative would be greatly appreciated.

Just got a message from Taylor Livingston of Iron Ether. You have to appreciate that kind of attention to prospective customers. He said there is a chip shortage holding up production of the Xerographs. It will likely be months before the next run but he does intend to make more.

The Enigma is definitely a good one to consider, I have the Riddle and mainly use it on guitar/keys but honestly it's got plenty of low end on bass as well and can even be too thick on some settings. Having start/stop controls is really nice though for getting the perfect envelope or exp sweep.

Another one I didn't see mentioned is the Pigtronix resotron:

I scored one on sale awhile back and wasn't sold on it initially, largely due to the lack of attack/decay controls which is another great thing about the Enigma/Riddle. Also the resotron blend isn't a clean blend but instead a compressor blend which is interesting but not nearly as useful, I use it with a boss ls-2 for an external blend though.

What ended up making me love it is when you have the exp plugged in the envelope still functions, so you can actually manually sweep the filter and set the sensitivity to react to your playing in either direction. Most envelope filters I've seen with exp jacks switch from being envelope filters to manually controlled like a wah, which is how the Riddle/Enigma work. The resotron also has an interesting pitch tracking mode and a self oscillation switch that maxes the peak/Q until the filter oscillates which will track the pitch or the envelope can be used to make the pitch go up or down. So it's made for some synthy filter sounds on top of classic stuff.
