No; afaik it was just a limited run. I will never understand why often it happens that something so "obviously" excellent is dropped by the manufacturer: just look at the Roscoe Beck, just speaking; a beautiful axe that became a standard suddenly terminated.

I mean, just coming back to the Casady topic, they came out with that funny silverburst where if they resurrected this beautiful burst probably would have sold much more... maybe I am wrong...

It's not really at all like a "jazz bass" in the sense this term is typically used -- i.e., for a bass designed like a Fender Jazz. The body is semi-hollow, unlike a Fender Jazz, and as bluejayway82 said, the neck is thick and chunky -- just the opposite of the narrow Jazz-style neck. It doesn't "play like a jazz bass" at all.

Unless you just mean it would be good for playing jazz music, which might well be true.

Oh ok. Yeah a friend of mine called it a jazz bass and I had the impression it had a thin, flat neck. Guess not. That's no problem. I know it's a lot different then your Fender Jazz, which I like. But, I believe it has some good jazz bass tones, which is great for me since I want that minus the slap-bass capability.

Oh, wow. OK. Yeah, I've been playing a Fender Squier Affinity Jazz bass for a while now and then some other similar type jazz basses. I'm definitely hoping I can keep that jazz tone, but I think it should feel fine. I definitely do not want/do any slap-bass.

Again, if by "jazz tone" you mean "a tone that sounds good for jazz music," the JC might be just what you want (or not). But if what you mean is "Jazz tone," in the sense of sounding similar to a Fender Jazz bass guitar, then no: The JC's tone isn't anything remotely like that of a Jazz bass. If anything is closer to the tone of a P-bass, though even that isn't a good description either.

I guess you'll find out soon enough. Let us know what you think when you get it!

Oh, no, I don't want want what the Fender Jazz sounds like. I mean I chose this bass for the reason the majority of people choose this bass for (and the reason Casady had this one made), and that's for the really low bassy tone. I know it's got grumble to it, but I like how it has the "50" setting for more of a P-bass sound. It's got a lot of range. But, I know I can get a funky sound out if I want to as well. By the way, it does say on the Epiphone website that it can sound like anything from a Hofner to a Fender Jazz bass.

yeah you can get a barky P tone out of it.. but a J-tone is a bit of a stretch in my opinion.. single pickup with that kinda placement is P all the way.. You're gonna love it though.. best value bass out there I'd say

Yeah, I actually like a P much better. This was definitely a good choice. And, yeah, it was time for me to upgrade, but I couldn't afford something crazy expensive. I got it for a great deal too. Now for this snow storm to leave so my bass can get here!
