Epifani UL 410 opinions please

A friend has offered me a ridiculously low price (in my view) on one of these. I know nothing about them.....in fact, less than nothing.

What should I ask about the cab?

Are there different versions?

Are some better than others?

Does it get as stupid loud for its size and weight as I have read?

Overall "baked in" sound? (Boomy? Bright? Clean? Etc.)

That cab cab take tons of power and get fairly deep. Not sure how punchy it can get, but it's lightweight for a 410.

I tend toward a slightly bright passive tone (P bass with the tone dimed usually) and use my fingers, plucking position, picks of varying thicknesses, etc. to vary the tone. Right now my main head is a Walkabout EQed "flatish" with a slight low-mid bump (adjusted for the room/style/PA/needs of the sound guy of course). You think that would translate through that cab?

you will not have a problem with Tone it is warmer but you can get good highs out of it too.. i playu Spectors and P basses and jazzes through this thing and great TONE

At the moment my main head is a Mesa Walkabout. But I'm thinking of trying to find an SVT 6 Pro to go with this cab if I get it. I had one for about two years a while back and I miss it. I got rid of it in a package deal with the fridge cab. This would be much more portable.

i have a Mesa Boogie Subway D800 i use and get complements all day long on tone... i also play with my Mesa Boogie M6 Carbine 2 12 combo.. you will love the walkabout through this cab,,,,

I had a 4 ohm UL1 410. Is this UL410 a 4 ohm or 8 ohm version?
Also, is it a UL1 or UL2? If it just says UL 410, it is a UL1 410.

There is a difference in weight and tone between UL and UL2.

I've got the first gen UL 1 410 8 ohm. I've played it in about 50 gigs, indoor and outdoor. I play a jazz bass and a P bass 4 string, usually with dimed treble. I used to play through a TC RH 750, but now through a GK MBF 800. I feel that the GK is much more suited with the epifani cab that the TC was. With either head, i've never had any volume concerns, as it can easily get super loud, and I've never felt I was ever pushing the cab or amp too hard.

For me, I love punchy lows and defined midrange sounds. It nails it, and the slap tone is great through the J or P bass. One time at an outdoor gig, the soundguy, who had done sound at that stage for about 40 other bands said that I should never change anything about my rig, as it was perfect through the miked cab.

The weight cannot be beat, 60 lbs for a 410 is fantastic.

I paid $500 for mine a few years back from craigslist, and am very happy with it.

In any case, it is a great 410, one of the best if not THE best.

A 4 ohm UL410 cabinet can be combined with an 8 ohm UL 210, giving you a modular 610 that presents a 2.67 ohm load. If you have a 2 ohm capable head, you are golden. The UL 410 (UL1) has the neodymium magnet drivers. The cabinet is very light—Epifani UL1 410 4 ohm cab weighs in at 57 lbs.

I think I remember Kjung saying the series one had more of a mid bump, and that the series two were a little more scooped.
