Epifani UL 410 opinions please

I ran Epi cabs fro about 15 years, though I never had a UL. I did, however, try ULs out in a store.

I know my cabs did one thing I've not seen other cabs do - surreal lows. As in near subsonic lows, in force. My 4x10 was insane - with enough power, it could really be thunderous.

Because of this, my cabs tended to have a bit of a "Scooped EQ" character that I would compensate for by bumping the mids on my amp. No big thing. If memory serves, the UL was less thunderous in the lows and a bit more flat overall - which really is better. I didn't end up choosing the UL for two reasons: Neo cabs were a really new thing at the time and I wasn't convinced - I wanted the tried and true -- and the ULs were more spendy.

Of course, now I run neo cabs because they are great and light!

Played one a bit at local guitar center, it was fine but I guess I expected more. I felt it was similar to my mid priced 410. I wouldn't consider it at what they sell for new, but it would probably be a great cab for $250.00.

I have a pair of UL2 1x15's so cannot comment on your specific question.

Just a note on the customer service.

I bought these used. I had an issue that required a new crossover. The service/response was top notch. New parts delivered in under a week from time of email.

So no worries if you need help with the 410 down the road. These guys will take care of you.

Love the cab - absolutely HATE the company with a passion. I guess maybe my experience was more of an outlier, but I found them to be the biggest a$$holes I've worked with in my music equipment buying days. Their customer support couldn't hold a candle to any of the REAL boutique guys like Jim Bergantino, Roger Sadowsky, Mike Lull, Dave Funk, etc.

As such, I'll never touch any of their products again regardless of what they produce...

If it's anything like the ul212 II, it's going to have a lot of bottom end, not a lot of high mid, and with the tweeter it can get clanky. Great for what I needed at the time, but not for everything

I had a series 2 UL410 back in the day. I used it with a Markbass LMII. That combo produced a very fat, deep, wide bottom end, relaxed mids, and smooth top end. The s2 UL410 isn't a punch monster. It's forte is fat, deep, wide, and smooth. If you want a tight punchy low end look for a Bergantino AE410. It's the UL410's out of control wild child step brother. The AE410 is tight, punchy, and more aggressive in the mids. And the AE410 is about 60lbs too.

I've had a UL2 4x10 Epifani for several years and g4string hit the nail on the head - "fat, deep, wide" is exactly how I'd explain their sound.

Very similarly, I used mine with a LMIII and it was my "go to" rig for a while. But over time, I found that wide bottom end to be a bit mushy
when playing at higher volumes and could not dial-in the tight tone I was seeking with my active Jazz.

I still have the LMIII and the Epifani UL2 4x10 but they are now my home practice rig -- which sounds great at lower volumes.

Yes....!!!! At low to moderate volume it's low, fat, deep, wide profile is kinda cool. But at louder volumes, its harder to cut through your slice of the mix pie. After awhile, I found tight and punchy suited my needs better no matter what the gig might be.

I have both 410 UL first series and...... 410UL series 2 which I compared to SWR Golight 410 , Mark Bass 410 and Berg/Sadowsky 410 non neo..all to replace my wonderful EDEN 410 XLT
I chose the Epifani UL410 series 2.....later adding UL series 1 for extra weight savings

I replaced my Bergantino HT210s non neo with Epifani UL310 series 2
and now have 2 early 310 series 2 lighter and one later.heavier
smooth hi fi series 2...bit more raunchy series 1

Love all of them...bought to match my Markbass SA450

Now mostly use with Mesa D-800

or Demeter VTBP201 into power amp of Magellan...Beautiful sound

He is going to look at it later but I'm gathering it's an early UL 410 at 4 ohms. So Series 1 maybe?
