LaBella DTFs on mine, and find I like either the 50 or 250 setting at home and 250 or 500 with the band, depending on what we are doing. I often run it at 250 and will use 500 as like a boost for certain sections and then back it down to 250.

Epiphone Jack Casady Really is All That

Schallers should work fine. Just make sure that the existing holes will let the mounting screws bite and hold. Mounting screw sizes vary. When I tried to put Schallers on my Ibanez some years ago I had to glue a sliver of wood in the existing oversize hole before driving the Schaller screw.
These days I use Dunlop strap locks on my solid and semi hollow instruments. I'm going to talk to my luthier about changing the JCB neck fitting from a surface mount to a flush mount. The surface mount sticks out fairly far letting the body tip forward quite a lot when my right arm is out of playing position, like reaching for something. It's not a big deal but it can be spooky. With the fix likely to be so easy I'll do it as long as drilling for it won't risk damage to the neck joint. I'll defer to the luthier on that.

Thanks for the reply. I felt like they would after a cursory examination of the buttons. I always re-use the screws from the buttons to make sure they make a good fit. If that won’t work, I may have to just deal with the buttons. I have a Gretsch and the buttons are significantly different on it. My tech is hesitant to replace them so I just use the buttons.
I could see where that location would make it tip forward. I had a T-Bird and it would do that. Some people loop the strap over the front of the bass, but not on the Jack, or at least not on mine. I bought a longer strap than usual for this bass. It would seem to need to be worn a skoash lower in order to be comfortable.

I think I like the Gold Top version the best, except for the pickup colour.
I ordered a couple of longer straps for this bass and my Gretsch. The one for the Gretsch is going to be fine and the length is fine too. However, the other one is a few inches shorter, although advertised as the same length, and I don’t want to say close enough. I would simply order the longer style in black, but the strap is very narrow and I am using strap locks on the JC. I’m worried that I will need remove too much material to allow for the locks.

My favorites are either an Italia extra long (unpadded, doesn't need it) or a Levy's padded extra long, 4" wide, 54" long (all the way out) either way.

What a great tone this bass has. Growly and assertive but still sits in the mix. Quite the accomplishment.
I use a Lakota Leathers 3" wide strap. They are made from American Bison and have a suppleness and a stretch to them that I don't find in cow leather, and they are naturally suede back, so they help keep things from moving around too much. And plenty long, I usually find I gut mine down a bit.
I have a couple 2.5" and a couple 4"-wide Italias with both standard and long tails. The standard length works fine but someday I should try the long one to see if I'll like it better.
For some reason or another, Epiphone thickened the neck between the late 90's into the early 2000's. There's a noticeable difference.
Hey all, I'm seriously consider grabbing one of these. I'd probably order from Sweetwater and unfortunately it doesn't seem like any local stores have one in stock for me to check out ahead of time, so just wanted to ask a few questions.
What's the neck feel like, compared to some other common bases (P, J, Stingray, etc)?
Have you struggled to adjust to the large body, as far as your picking hand?
I've heard mixed things about a neck dive issues, has this been a serious issue for anyone on here?

The neck feels smaller to me than the one on my Gretsch and I’d say similar to a P Bass neck. Someone else may be better positioned to answer this as I typically play 5’s and 6’s so most every 4 seems small to me.
I’m using a long strap to get the body lower and that makes the picking hand fit just right. Jack did this and he was right... no surprise there.
I do not experience any neck dive with this bass.
So far, I’m really liking a lot of things about it. It won’t replace my 6 but it will be in the rotation.
My stock JCB has very mild neck dive when using a 2-1/2" leather strap while wearing a cotton shirt. You can reduce that by swapping the factory tuners for something lighter and/or using a wider strap. I used the 2-1/2" while waiting for my new 4" Italia strap, which I chose for the look, not to address any weight or balance issue. Both are extremely comfortable with a sub-9 lb. bass. There are those on TB to whom a bass has unacceptable neck dive if it doesn't stay aloft with a toddler hanging from the headstock. YMMV
