I just modded my Epi Ripper by adding a Seymour Duncan 1/4 pound P pup and a Seymour Duncan 1/4 pound j pup. It's turned an average bass into an absolute balltearer. Just bought a coffin case for it which is pretty good as well. Love the feeling of a big fat ass bass like the Ripper.

I really don't like the look of epi rippers.... they don't look like the original ones, just not the right vibe...
but what ever floats your boat right

It's hard to swallow the PJ on a Gibson as many people did that too them. However I know people who own the new EPI version and say it's a great sounding bass- Also they did a great job on the one's I have seen with really nice wood- they look great, to me.
The bottom line is it's a great sounding & looking bass, may offend the purest, but all that matters is the bottom line.

Thanks Barkless Dog, Im enjoying it and its a lovely instrument (at least in my eyes).
I've just recently picked up 2 Epi non-reverse Thunderbirds with p-j pickups. My plan for the 4 string is to install 1/4 pounders. I think it will make it really come alive. Don't know what I'll do with the 5er yet.
