Epiphone Zenith arrived (pics and sound clip)

Let me just state that I am a fretless newb, in fact this is the first time I have played one more than a few minutes. I was looking for a bass to more company acoustic gigs and what not. Since I cannot afford a Rob Allen Mouse, I looked into this and also a Godin A4. My initial impression is that this is not your typical Epiphone. It looks very high quality, finish and wood look great. I am impressed with the quality and feel. It is extremely light and easy to play. There are two nano web pickups, one at the end of the neck and another one inside somewhere. Has a bass/treble stack for each pickup, a volume knob and a blend. Came with Labella tapewounds. You can really mix up the knobs and get some cool combinations. I ran it through my rig with my VT bass pedal and it sounded pretty cool.

I recorded a few licks direct, EQ set flat, just to give folks an idea. The first run is the bridge only, next is blended, then neck only. Excuse the crappy playing. I may make a more in depth youtube video if I get some time. Waiting to try out the Godin A4 to compare them. Picked this one up from GC's 12 mo no interest deal on Gibson/Epiphone products. I have 30 days to figure out which one I like more since I can return the Zenith if I do not dig it.

The fretless version that comes with the Labellas is 849.00, the fretted version is 799.99

The thickness of the body is about 2 inches. The widest part of the body ( From end of F hole to the other F hole) is about 15 inches. From where the strings feed to the edge of the fretboard is about 10 inches. Nut width 1 5/8". Let me know what other measurements you want!:cool:

My thoughts exactly. Even if I do not end up keeping it (going to compare it to a fretted A4 in a few days :hyper:) Epiphone hit the ball out of the park with this bass. Plays/feels great!

Standing close to my amp I was not digging the sound as much, but the guy who lives next to me in my grad hall came over and was like, wow! That sounds great! He is a songwriter for what it is worth :ninja:

Haha, no worries bro. At first I thought it was a cheap fret extension, then I realized oh, it is a pickup :o

What is the depth of the neck and how would you describe the neck carve?
