Anyone know anything about these new hollowbody basses? I guess they're still not being made yet? I saw the press release pics, and I'm hopeful that this will feel and sound as nice as it looks!

Epiphone Zenith Basses?

I played both the fretted and fretless yesterday at my local shop. Both seemed pretty cool. Well made and sounded good. A bit pricey for Epiphone. $1499 list
I got the fretted version. It sounds great, looks amazing, it isn't crafted perfect but for this price it's more than good......
Right now they are being test marketed mostly in Europe. The Epiphone dealer around here said that he might see one near the end of summer. Epiphone has changed the electronics and finishes that will be available two times since the catalog went to press. The top of the line model is supposed to come with an ebony fingerboard and tailpiece. He quoted me a MSLP as $1395 w/case.

Yes, this, if you don't want to spend a lot of money is a great alternative......the sound is amazing and and the look too.

Looks great! I have been looking at these on a local store's website, but they have yet to recieve stock.
Original (poor...) strings, flat eq, no effects or compression.

Just ordered one of natural fretted Zeniths. Full report after it arrives. Colombo's clips sold me.
My Zenith arrived today and my initial impression after playing at home for about 30 minutes is that it's money well spent. Workmanship is first class. I bought the antique natural finish, and it's beautiful. Very nice tortoise binding on the body, bound F holes -- a classy looking instrument. The neck is very smooth. I haven't gigged it yet, but the sound is outstanding run mono through my Line 6 Studio 110. Haven't tried it stereo yet, which I may do when I record next month. My only complaint is that the concentric tone controls are a bit stiff -- both knobs want to turn together -- but I expect that will pass as I play the bass. A nice array of tones available. Boosting bass to the max gives a very high output -- probably too high to be useful. The roundwound strings sound great -- nothing at all like any of my other basses, and that's good. This bass will fit in well when the guitarists in my band play acoustic. I'll update after I gig with it.
That's how I wound up with mine. Luckily I had a gift certificate to offset some of the cost. the black one is $50 cheaper than the natural one if that's any help. Haven't seen them any cheaper than $799 though. $90 for the case.
