Agreed. My new Zon came with Zon nickel strings on it, which I swapped out for my usual GHS Boomers (nickel-plated steel) after a week or two. Very similar tone, although the Boomers feel a bit smoother.
Seems like there are a bunch of folks around here who think strings are one of the top two or three components of a bass's sound. As someone who's tried probably a dozen different string sets on the same bass, that is simply crazy to me.
It'll get you through a jam session, but if it becomes a longer-term deal you'll probably want to go to a five string set and toss the skinniest string. I like abnormally light tension (I use a standard 45-105 set for Drop C), but I probably wouldn't use a 110 on the low string for anything lower than a C. My backup bass has a 115 low string, and my band occasionally played a cover song in Drop A and that low string was pretty floppy.

Gonna be pretty floppy with a .110 for A. Better off looking into a 5 string set and ditching the G string.
.135 for the low string should be about the norm.
even thatll be floppy. i use a 158/166 for the A, the big 5 sets have like a 135, so its still not gonna be very tight. you can probalby get away with it, but if youre digging in and playing hard, expect your string to warble in and out of tune, and expect the string to just not stay in tune in general.
Emailed them back. Guitarist said "we tune to C but the drop a step to A" I just realized he probably meant B.
if theyre in C and they drop "a step" (meaning they do the equivalent of drop D) thats a Bb.
I concur not big enough. I would say the smallest you could get away with is 125 and that would still be loose

everyone needs to just look at the circle K tension chart and call it a day lol.
FWIW I think a .135 will get the job done. Did a project for a minute in drop A and those GHS stings I have did the trick. My gages are .135 .95 .75 .55. Also back to my topic may e I'll just get smaller stings to get more attack. Experimenting with set up at the moment. Action on my white p was still super high from when it was in drop A.
I've pretty much tried every strigh GHS makes. Hated every single one of them. I hate the sound, the feel and none ever intonated properly. I tried to give them a chance but they failed each time. The most consistent strings I've found are DRs. I prefer the feel and sound of La Bellas, but they are a crap shoot. sometimes they are good, sometimes the strings are dead right out of the pack. I tried hard to find the right strings for each bass and just couldn't do it. Everything is now strung with DR SS Lo-Riders.
I've never found a string I didn't particularly like. I guess I'm just kind of indifferent towards strings?
