EQD Afterneath Settings Thread

So I just got this wonderful pedal by EQD a few days ago. What fun! I can see how this pedal will be extremely beneficial for awesome textural basscapes. But, it's endless what this pedal can do in this arena. TONS of crazy, usable sounds in this little box.

So, I'd really like to see how you afterneath users are setting yours to. Here are a couple I just found tonight I'm really diggin.

All knobs at noon. Except mix, to taste/room. This is also a good starting point when exploring.

The next one is actually all knobs fully CCW with mix around 2 o'clock. It's this really cool, quick ping kinda delay.

Man this things fun. Let's see those settings fellas.

This is where I ended up for a gig this week and really liked what I heard. I think its a very small variation on what @Somnambulance suggested as those were the last settings I had before I left. @bassmusic17 has some good ones as well that I bet he will contribute.

Length noon
Drag noon
Diffuse 9pm
Reflect 2pm
Dampen 10pm
Mix 2pm

Great idea for a thread Greg. This thing has absolutely endless possibilities. As I mentioned in the Breeder Thread, once I started thinking about this pedal more like a delay pedal and less like a reverb, I started finding more uses for it in band settings. Bassmusic17 mentioned that he almost thinks about it as an instrument - that you are best off when you follow where it brings you rather than trying to force your hand on it. And I have come to very much agree.

These are my two favorite settings I have found so far. I will definitely check out the others mentioned by others.

The first setting is more of a full on super washy cavernous reverbed out delay which sounds amazing for creating soundscapes and stacking with other delays.

The second setting is a lot more subtle and allows for more dynamic playing along with the effect.

If you have this pedal don't try to add this effect to an existing bass line. It probably won't sound good to you and you will get frustrated. This pedal wasn't intended to be just a straight reverb or anything of the like. It's its own beautiful effect that is truly a unique and original design.

Like @Mosfed mentioned earlier. I do look at this as another instrument almost. Other than just an effect. It's one of those pedals that you just got to go with the flow and see where it takes you. In doing so you can write some amazing passages. If you try to make this pedal do something it wasn't intended for you will probably just wind up frustrated. Be creative.

Rewlky cool start guys! Thanks for contributing. I'm hoping that as more guys get this pedal and they can throw some settings up. It's like the afterneath forces you to play with it and get to learn it. Having a lot of fun with it tonight. Im playing the megalith and OC2 through it with some trem and wah. Fun stuff!

Maybe when @BIG97BEN finalky realizes he needs one he can contribute too.

I am trying to think of others who have this pedal so I can tag them in it but I am drawing a blank.

Also I would say the Mr. Black Supermoon sounds incredible and seems like it would go with the Afterneath like PB sand J.

Man everyone needs one of these things - it is one of the most bizarre, insane and yet incredibly musical pedals I have ever owned. You really really have to play to its strengths as it layered over anything you already play will likely sound like a mess. But when you do!!!!

The song I ended up writing around it is one of our favorite things to play right now.

Dude I definitely want one. The Afterneath and the Supermoon have both been running around in my head. The purchase of the delay yesterday was step one towards purchasing one or both of these.

Hey all, I just picked up one of these bad boys today. I've already spent a couple hours spacing out with it, and I used some of the suggested settings here as starting points. I'm trying to get it to play nicely with my EQ Devices Organizer, but it's not reaching the sonic glory that I had expected. Where are you guys running the Afterneath in your signal chain? Anyone else running these two together? I'm relatively new to effects beyond octave, fuzz, etc, so forgive the noobness.

I run mine dead last. I don't have an organizer but @Mosfed has a B9 and C9 so he should be able to help.

Hey as @bassmusic17 said - I have the EHX version on my board is while it isn't the same, it's close.

I found that the organ machine worked much better (tracked, sounded, etc) without my other online effects - ie my comp, always on overdrive, etc. So I have actually placed the organ in a loop of an Ls2 to make it one step switching.

But to honest, it doesn't surprise me that the Afterneath and organizer don't miz too well. The afterneath is really a world on its own that i can't imagine working too well with an organ. The organ has nearly infinite sustain and the Afterneath wouldn't necessarily know what to do with that.

Make sure you share your settings when you get some time with it please!

I've had mine for a couple months now and while i haven't used it too much with the band yet, I'm finding ways to work it in to some existing songs and trying to write new parts with it. I tried running before my dirt section and while it sounded crazy awesome, I found it was getting away from me most times. So I moved it back to right after my diet section but before modulation and delay. Still having a lot of fun with it.

I was thinking of selling it last month but my good buddy Oz talked me out of it. It's a great, unique pedal and it should be exercised and kept long enough to experiment with. Its one of those pedals that may not get used a lot in my setup but I'll be really happy it's there when I do want to use it.

I like diffuse all the way down and dampen all the way up. For bass, I find this is the best way to cut through. It is still plenty washy. I keep the length and reflect fairly low. Drag, I change all the the time. Such a cool pedal. I like some of the other Earthquaker pedals. The fuzz master general and rainbow machine in particular. But in my opinion the Afterneath is their coolest most forward thinking pedal so far. Of course it rules for drones and textures, but keeping the mix knob below noon you have an excellent reverb that really kicks fuzz and overdrive up a notch.

Bought this pedal at a demo workshop for Earthquaker Devices at a local guitar store, hosted by none other than Juan Aldrete. Really spoke to me, and has quickly become my go-to pedal whenever I want to do something different.

I've sort of settled into:
Length - 11 / Diffuse - 11 / Damp - 1
Drag - 12 / Rflct - 12 / Mix - 2

Though I do want to do a bit more experimenting with some other settings on some other tracks to see what I can do.

Im actually using the settings Juan was in the demo spawned from that clinic. Really cool, mellow, yet very effective and reactive to your attack settings. Love this pedal. And to think, I was thinking about flipping it. Really glad I didnt :)
