ernie ball strings?

hey, i am quite new to bass guitar and have been playing for over a year but only a month or two seriously. I play on a brownsville and my friends ibanez sdgr300. I hate to spend alot of money on strings for these so i was wondering how these strings compare to their more expensive counterparts.

I feel like the Earnie Ball strings I get sound dead right out of the package. I'd go with D'Addarios instead; I think they are cheaper, anyways.

I use Ernie Ball strings exclusively

I use the Hybrid Slinkys on 4 string and the Regular Slinky 5 on 5 string

I think they sound great, last a long time, Im very pleased with the Ernie Balls

i used to use their hybrid strings exclusively for a couple years untill now. recently i have discovered rotosounds and couldnt be happier

I also use Hybrid Slinky's on all my basses.

I've found strings are not unlike basses or amps or anything else. Try out as many as you can till you find the ones that sound right to you.

I've been happy with Super Slinkies on most of my basses (especially the Stingray). They have been consistently ok, unlike most strings I've tried, which have been ok to bad, or suffer from breakage. I've had everything from D'Addarios (which I consider a low end or poor quality string, though my guitarists swear by them), to handmade DR's break on me at inappropriate times (ie., when not even playing).

i also use EB exclusively. i've tried several brands but always go back to EB. they can't be beat for the price.

i think slinkys are great strings! i especially like them because they have a fast "break in" time.

I seem to have the same problem with DR's.

As far as Ernie Ball goes i like using the Hybrid Slinky's on my P they last a good while and have a nice sound once they are properly stretched out.
