ESP bass - Which one?

The next one up from the Ltd's are the "Edwards", but that's only in Japan.
Edwards guitars are more or less Gibson Guitar and Fender Bass copies, not the Metal ESP type. They are the "budget" version of their "Grassroots" line.

They only charge around $7-900 for each model and the quality is comparable to their American-made counterparts.

Grassroots models cost about $2-3000 per and they create vintage correct boutique Gibson Guitars and Fender Basses. Most say the quality is above the Gibson and Fender custom shop for vintage replicas.

Ah right i see - they dont have much of a full range then? Also the LTD is quite expensive for a budget range on UK websites. Is the quality not as good as squire or Epiphone?

Im wondering whether to go with a Yamaha BB614 or a Cirrus instead if thats the case, as they are around the same price here???

I've got a B-304 and it kicks the living crap out of any squire or epiphone that I've played. Very versitile, Sure they are made in korea but the quality is amazing. Every LTD I've played was well made and the set up was great. I keep trying to buy an american Fender jazz bass but the quality is often underwhelming compared to my $500 LTD so I keep talking myself out of it. IMO I dont think you get a better bass for the money. Yamaha's usualy sound realy good for the money but I've owned four of them and I dont get allong with their necks at all.

ESP Ltds used to be much better imo. Over the past year or so theyve downgraded the qaulity of hardware (esp the bridges) and woods used for body. And overall build isnt as good as it used to be imo. They used to be my fave budget to mid price basses, but not anymore with the lower qaulity of the newer ones Ive seen for the past yr or so.

That's a real shame. They were an excellent bass for the price.
My 254 has beautiful black chrome hardware, excellent EMG-HZ's, neck-through, string through. Best of all may be the neck.

Ya absolutely love the neck on mine. Those new 414s or whatever they are look pretty friggen sweet. You dont think their as good as the old ones? I know they went to ash instead of mahogany so I'd realy like to play one. I always felt the ash Surveyors had a bit of a harsh sound that I didnt like so I'm curious to try the new 400s.
