Oh if I were king for a day....
Of course, with my views on how truth in advertising laws ought to work, half the industry would be shut down and almost everybody with advertising or marketing in their title would be out of a job. :scowl:
I definitely smell BS when they're talking about break-in of DIGITAL cables:
Morrow Audio - DIG4 Grand Reference Digital Cable
Why is it that some electrical engineer needs to prove that they don't work? Why doesn't ESP prove they do work and save us all the trouble?
Science can't prove something doesn't exist. Science can't prove ghost don't exist. And science nor any psychic, nor TV show, nor celebrity endorsement can prove they do exist. I can make up something entirely in my mind and then tell you to prove it doesn't exist. Look up Carl Sagan and his invisible dragon.
Let's say that these cables do affect the gear under test that someone can hear a difference. Is it better or worst? That's subjective. Measurements would tell if the gear under test is reproducing the signal better or worst.
I heard something recently. Lets say you go to a Magic show. Do you believe the magician is magic? You can't figure out the trick yet you must know it's not really magic. You can study and practise magic tricks. Are you magic? After you studied and practiced magic tricks and then go see a magician what's your perspective? Engineers don't need to go to magic shows and spend time proving magic tricks are tricks. Every honorable magician will admit they're tricks.
These ESP cords aren't magic. Enough that any engineer doesn't need waste their time proving they are or aren't. ESP needs to prove they are.
Or, for an even more prosaic example, Richard Dawkins' Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Good post, Monkeyman.

Obviously ESP doesn't have to prove anything. Seems all they needed was a video of them at the Namm show, a fancy website and 49 main stream endorsers who all say they hear a difference.
I would think if ESP could prove that the cord really did change your tone (for the better) they would show up here with some evidence. Over 19,000 views. If it were my company and I could back it up with facts you bet I'd be here in this forum. This would be a perfect way to increase sales!!!!

I just found out they have 2 sets of recordings on their site you can download. They say the only thing changed was the power cords. I have just toggled between the first couple of seconds of each file and I can't make a distinction between the two on either set, but I don't have audiophile grade ears. Maybe others will have better luck.

GREAT IDEA!!! I'll start getting some endorsers and get the fancy website going!!!!In fact, that gives me an idea: A power cable emulation box that goes into the effects loop of any amp and reproduces the effect of a boutique power cable!
/sarcasm

JimmyM said:EXACTLY!
I'll tell you what it is...Vic was one of the very first to get behind it, and he's so well-respected that nobody would dare think he could be fooled, and it set off a chain reaction of high level endorsers who believe in Vic, therefore by default they believe in this Magic Bean Cord. The Emperor's New Clothes for bass players![]()
Anyone know of an app for Mac that allows you to fade between two MP3s? There has to be a DJ app or something.
It's been a while but way back when I used Virtual DJ. I just checked their site and they do have a version for mac.
From what I remember there were two turntables and you could drag and drop the files onto the table or load from the menu but this was some time ago so it could have changed.

What do you do?
Dawkins did not create the Flying Spaghetti Monster, Bobby Henderson did. It is just an example Dawkins frequently uses like the invisible pink unicorn and the orbiting teapot (they aren't his ideas originally either).
Seamonkey - either I didn't convey my thoughts properly, you misread my post, or a combination of the two happened.
I'm on your side here, and for the record, am an engineer (civil, not electrical though), so I do have some basic idea of science...
I want to convince "magic ears" crowd that they are wrong, not that basic science is flawed. I figure a controlled ABY test carried out with an independent third party observing, may slow the dissemination of incorrect information (and that's the goal here, right?)
