ESP Vs Squirer ?

Play them BOTH 1st before you make any decision.....YOU have to play what feels good first. You can always swap pickups and any minor hardware to get that sound you want.
Oh and play more than one model of them....you get one that is great and another plays like garbage. QC is not always the same on lower end basses.

So basically you're judging all the other Squiers based on your one bad experience. Explain how that is even remotely fair. Forgive me if I rely on not only my own experience, but the very positive experiences of the literally hundreds (and likely more) that I've read about here and other places. Your one experience is not any kind of indicator of anything other than your own bad luck.

I'm not saying that all of them are bad. Not my words. I'm saying that ltd has better quality and is more consistant. I'm saying that mine is junk. I'm saying that some of the others that I've played were junk. Hell, even Fender is known for inconsistancy. When a company sells that many instruments, they're gonna be hit and miss to keep profits up.

.. FWIW, I would also be interested to know what model of 'Squirererer' it is ... I certainly dont/wont dispute that you obviously dont care for it, but since it is a contradictory opinion to what I have found after owning literally dozens of Squiers, I am just curious ...

... recognizing the limitations and the 'bang for the buck' opinions generously offered on the current Squier lines, if anything I have noticed them to be extremely consistent in terms of quality, sound, and fit in finish within each model line ... are they the end all/be all that some elude to, certainly not to everyone ... but I am yet to see/own/play one that I would classify as 'junk' ... so perhaps if you were to expound a bit on what/why it is that you do not care for it, it would be a bit more enlightening than just calling it 'junk' ..

... with that said, that LTD looks interesting, I have NO experience with it, but it reminds me of a Peavey (Milestone maybe?) that I had many years ago when I picked the bass back up after a long hiatus ... nice little bass ... especially for the $100 I paid for it, and it served it purpose well at the time, although some might call it 'junk' too, it did its job ... JMHO's of course

It's an Indonesian Affinity P. The pups are mirophonic and it seriously lacks low end. It will not do a low setup. It won't even do a medium setup. The neck needs shimmed. The nut was slotted too deeply. It looks, feels, and sounds cheap. But that's what it is... a cheap bass.

PS... The fret work is way less than desireable. Tangs will cut ya if you're not carefull.

Ah, the Affinity series. Some are ok, most are meh, but here we were talking about the VM series... entirely different!!! The VMs are pretty good and the CV even more so.

having played both...i would lean towards the LTD...it simply felt more comfortable and sounded better to my ears through the same amp...the bridge on the LTD is somewhat more substantial as well providing a bit more sustain than the Squier

however that said...that is my experience...yours may be different...the reason so many different brands exist? Simple different strokes for different folks

Whenever i go to buy a new bass the first thing i do is simply hold it and then slowly begin to play different runs all over the neck as well as on every string...if it FEELS good to me i plug it in and run it through it's paces...if it SOUNDS the very LAST thing i do is judge the aesthetics...

but that's me...

And for what it is worth I currently own two LTD's and no Fender/Squier products (though i had a VM Jazz for a short period of time...)
