Double Bass Esperanza !!!

A crazy coincidence. I watched some of this TDC about an hour ago.
I know it was an acoustic set, but I wish the bass was louder. I am happy Esperanza Spalding, has the freedom to do what she wants.

I thought her bass sounded great. Are you listening on real speakers or a phone?
I just discovered I missed out on Esperanza playing near me last week, doh!
Her album with Milton N. will be out on Friday. Two of the cuts are already available and her bass sounds great.
There’s a good recent episode of The Late Set podcast with Nate Chinen featuring Esperanza talking at length about this project.
Esperanza is a fantastic musician! She is a world-class vocalist and bassist on both electric and upright bass. I recently transcribed her bass/scat solo on Body and Soul in 5/4. It's amazing. Below is my transcription and a video of me playing along with the track.
She's not my favorite bassist and not my favorite vocalist, but she is absolutely the best at singing and playing an instrument at the same time that I have ever heard. And on an instrument that requires you to hear the pitch and adjust to play in tune! She's astounding. Amazing brain there.
