Est. battery life in a Bass BB Preamp?

Hi,

Until now I have been happily using a Turbo Tuner as my only pedal. Those things can work for years on a single 9V and they have a Low Battery indicator, so I don't use a power supply. I do own a Boss PSA-adapter, but I figured it takes up space in my gigbag and is less reliable than a battery (very weak cord, depends on available wall warts etc.).

However, I bought a Bass BB Preamp for some slight crunch in a couple of songs. That pedal doesn't have a lo-batt. indicator off course, but I guess I'll be fine without the adapter, because the pedal is true bypass and it's 'only' a distortion (not a delay pedal for example), right?

I know Murphy's Law so I'll permanently put a backup 9V battery and a screwdriver in my gigbag, but I guess using batteries will be the easiest thing to do. I'm a bit of an eco-freak, but I guess one battery each 2 years won't be too bad considering the extra hassle with an adaptor.


So is there anyone who can shine in on this? How long will a battery in a Bass BB Preamp approx. last?

That's really hard to say considering it depends on so many variables like how much you use the pedal and what kind of battery you're using and all that jazz. My advice would be play it until the battery runs out and that'll tell how long it'll last.

And then use rechargeables.

Try it with a flat battery and/or no battery just to be sure that it is true bypass and won't cause you problems if the battery does die mid-set .

Thought rechargeables provide enough juice for effects pedals?
But yeah, I'll try both and without battery.
